When do you gift a Rolex to your kids?

Wow, haven't even thought about "when" with my watches. We only have one son, so he's going to get all my crap sooner or later. I guess when he's "ready" whenever that may be. Not going to tie it to HS or college graduation. I'm just hoping he'll appreciate these watches! I'd imagine by then they'd have even less of a reason to wear a watch then the current iPhone generation.

The maturity of children is incredibly variable. I have a stepdaughter who didn't grow up until 29. I have a stepson who is 20 (acts 30, works, is good with money, finances part of his education, is a very good student at university (engineering)). He likes watches and I gifted him one of my Tag Heuers about two years ago. He treats it well and it is his all-purpose everyday and special event watch. I have set aside a Rolex Submariner for his graduation next year. If he hadn't been mature or if he didn't like watches, then I wouldn't have gone down the Tag, then Rolex path.

Is graduating from high school really an accomplishment?

Getting into a good college and graduating, and having a job or grad school lined up seems more deserving of a luxury watch.

At the dinner celebration on the day my son graduated college I took the Sub off my wrist and put it on his. Actually, I said, "Is that your glass of water?" and when he said yeah it was, I took my Sub off and dropped it in, and said, "This is for you. Congratulations for all the hard work and effort. I'm proud of you."

He couldn't fish it out of there fast enough, LOL! Then I pulled my GMT out of my pocket, put it on my temporarily bare wrist, and we took father/son wrist shots.
