What a great watch! Thanks for sharing...

Mine is a 1675 too and looks to be same era and model as that. However, more worn condition (I remember it on dad's wrist forever.... work and play!).

Is the crystal just rounded on the edge because of wear or is that a specific model? Would love to add one like that to my 1675.

Hi Kevin,
The old tropic 116s have these rounded edges. They give a wonderful look to the watch but are really hard to find and I'm happy, that it was mounted when I bought this watch.

What is an "old" tropic 116? Older than the one pictured below?

Hi John,
sorry for my late reply.
Don't know if "older" than the one pictured by you, but different from the one.
Saw them on plenty 1655 and 1675. Don't know if they were unpolished or not (mine is polished) but they look different. They are more rounded and are a little domed....
Can not better explain :-(

How old is the one you pictured?
If you have got more or other information concerning the different T116 versions, would be nice if you could share with us....

Thanks in advance, Sebastian

I am only familiar with the one in the photo I posted. Maybe Mike (watchcrank) or someone else can shed some light on these variations in the 116 crystal.

All I know is it looks great when the edge is rounded like that. Gives it a domed look.

I've seen some early ones for subs and gmts which have rounded/slightly domed crystals, and are made of hesalite.

Yes I would agree Karl, but I haven't seen this crystal used during the time period the OP's watch was produced that's why I find it interesting.

Right, John, I also thought they were earlier/older, carrying the hesalite dome.

Don't know if it's period correct on my watch. The Pre-owner (very well known collector) fitted this domed T116 to the watch.

It would be intersting to know in what period these "plexis" were originally mounted on 1655 and 1675.
Personally saw them on early 70's 1655, 60's GMTs, early 70's GMTs...

However, I enjoy it on my 1675, whether it's period correct or not

That is a stunning time piece! I would love to see a pic of the lume plots out of sunlight (to see the green color). The crystal almost looks like a T19 with a date bubble - I am loving the rounded edges! Congrats

Thx

Here's one pic without sunlight....
The reaoson of the green effect is a) the colour of the luminous material and b) that it's very fast....let's call it "charged" for glowing in the dark....so normal light is enough to let it allready glow a bit

I'll try to post a dark-shot by time....

and for direct comparison a sunlight-shot...

Absolutely amazing!! Wear it in good health!

You're right about the lume: my 5512 MF has the same zincsulfide-trit mix. The glow is something unlike any lume I've ever seen on other watches..

Beautiful watch!

What's a watch like this worth these days? I'd suspect these are very rare to find a 1967 with matte dial and small hand like yours these days.

Just curious on people's opinions on what this exact watch is worth today??

Thanks
