Daytona has me confused.....

Hi All,

New member here although I've been a secret admirer of the site for some time.

At present I have a 2014 ceramic black date sub and a 2016 White gold bezel SS date just II with diamonds spots.

I've always loved the Daytona (white face) and with the new one out and recent surge in sales, I want one ha. I've got a 2013 white SS on hold atm but in order to fund the purchase I would need to sell both, as my other love cars has me spending on a new purchase. At present I wear my sub everyday, wet / dry, suits / shorts. And my DJ on weekends. Is it wise to sell both and get the Daytona ? I know how good it looks, but can I call it dressy? My DJ looks great with a shirt / blazer etc.
I can post some pics if anyone's interested - any opinion would help, thanks :)

Welcome! Yes pictures of yours would be helpful! Probably a 2 for 1 would not be a good idea, unless you really need to have it!

I have found that a 2:1 never works out for me. There's just too much room for regret. A small piece of me regrets every watch I let go of, two is just too hard. If you are set on the Daytona, I would consider flipping just one and saving up a little longer for the Daytona. Good luck

I would sell both and get the daytona. It's durable and versatile enough to be your only watch.

I wouldn't.

Once I had a Daytona I noticed it was "ok"... but nothing world breaking. I missed the date function.

Keep your 2 watches.

I'd keep what you have - more versatile. Save for the Daytona or sell the DJ and something else to raise the funds.

I can only speak for the 116500 as I do not have an earlier model, but my black dial 116500 definitely has a dressy feel to it IMO. The sub dials almost have a pearl look to them which I like. With that said, I agree with the others here, just save for it and you will be able to enjoy all 3. If going for the 116500 you likely have some time to save

A Daytona is as "dressy" as a Sub IMHO.
I can't recommend selling to buy though.
Id get on the list for the new Daytona, it could be a long while waiting & saving but then you'll have all 3 and the new car to boot!

I'd miss the date function, but the Daytona is a beautiful watch and could easily do the work and play role

Don't do it. The sub and DJ make a diverse combo that you'll lose and miss.

I have a SubC date and would never let it go. Last year I traded 2 non Rolex and topped up with cash for a white face Daytona. Best decision ever.
Whatever you do..... keep the Sub.

I'd only go 2 for 1 if I'm upgrading to PM. Keep the Sub and move the DJ to help finance the Daytona.

Heck no, dont do it!!!! Ive done a dew two for one deals in the past without any regrets but those two indeed are keepers! Really nice duet you got. I would just add a third and that 2013 Daytona would compliment it nicely

I find the Daytona much dressier than the sub because of the polished case and center links. That said, I would do that trade.

I did the 2 for 1 to get the BLRO. I'm not sure I'd do it in your case. I might be in the minority here but I'd let the Sub go and keep the DJ. Save up and go for the 116500.

Since it's going to be a while before you can get your hands on a 116500, start saving now. Keep both for awhile and then let the Sub when you know the Daytona is near.

The DJ and the Daytona make a great pair.

Good luck and welcome.

Trade down your DJ to one without "diamond spots" and set the cash aside. Save for the Daytona.

I don't agree. A DJ and Daytona are somewhat redundant, being shiny shiny sports watches. The Daytona and Sub, make a much more versatile paring.

2 for 1 and the 1 is another SS - hell no!! Agree with other posters, would only do that if changing to PM.

If it were me, I'd keep the Sub and DJ and save for the Daytona
