Used SS/Plat YM
Good Afternoon Gentlemen,
I am looking at purchasing a used 16622 SS/Plat YM. (First Rolex.) Ideally, I'd like to purchase from an established broker and pay by credit card. (For obvious reasons.) I am looking at one on eBay: http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?...MEWA:IT&ih=007 Please let me know if you think this is a good value. Additionally, any comments on the condition of this watch would be very helpful. Thanks, Steve |

I can't speak to the value or the seller....
However, it is advertised as a 2005 and all the markings show it was made in 2003...Even the warranty is dated Jan 2004. With that in mind, I would compare it with other 2003 prices and not 2005, or the silliness of a new one..... Personally I think the buy it now price is a bit high for a watch that age..

eBay is a great place to find overpriced watches, including the one you referenced. I would check on this site, Timezone, Watchnet, and verify the seller.

Any time I see that someone has taken the case back off to prove it's genuine, I wonder if they know what they are doing, did they observer suitable cleanliness precautions at the location and did they put it back together correctly to ensure water proofing?
That and eBay make me nervous.

The paper has a date but the AD's name is missing.
If they can't get the date right, then it very well can be phony. I wouldn't trust that one.
