1960's Vietnam war & Rolex - Solder , PX

Rolex
GMT Master
1675
This is the finest example I've ever seen as a complete package.. Owner was in Vietnam during the war and made the purchase in between tours.. He has since passed and left it in care of his wife she later passed on to her son. A precious possession from the past.

Felt privileged to have put my hands on this beautiful complete package. The story made it even better..

wow...that is about as comprehensive as it gets. interesting how Rolex suggested using the watch box to hold cigarettes! the PX was a good source for quality watches during that timeframe. a lot of GIs also brought back Seikos but a Rolex was something special...given a soldier's pay at the time.

Ref1655 - to give you some feedback this Rolex was maybe 250 to 300 bucks which in fact was a ton of cash back then.. I'm excited this package has survived time..

As a A7 plane captain serving with VA-146 in 1970 I saw a lot of pilots wearing GMT's, when we had our R&R in Hong Kong they were selling for $300 which was about what I was making including combat pay that's why I waited 40 years to get my GMT.
