Panerai Values?
I am an avid Rolex loyalist (with one Breitling Bentley Motors in the collection). I am intrigued by the Panerai piece. Not really familiar with the Brand by collection, my question is, Do Panerai's hold (go up) value like Rolex? Is there certain models that are better than others? Thanks in advance for any input.

hi,
several threads on this topic. while rolex and patek beat everyone in terms of having the most models that hold value well, panerai has a few, too, and more than most. but, the heady days of a few years ago when values skyrocketed for LEs are probably gone forever. if you just want to dabble and don't have the patience to find the model you really love and want to keep, pick up a LNIB 000, 005 or 111 and you will be able to flip with little to no loss. ![]() |

Unless limited edition, you can expect panerai models to drop 40% at least. Buy low and you'll be fine.

Look out for the PAM bug. First do some searching and find out which models grab your fancy. Then do some market research on watchrecon and compare the going prices pre owned against retail.
If you buy right you'll find the watch should hold value or allow you to trade at similar value. J |

Buy a watch that you like first and foremost. Value down the road is important, but should be secondary.

If you buy the watch at a 20% discount from the ad which almost every ad gives than I guess resale value wont be affected too much imo

PAMs are awesome. They have a unique look and give me a good break from other watches such as Rolex. As everyone here will tell you, buy the one that speaks to you, and don't think of watches as investments. Just enjoy them.

Panerai demand had dropped significantly over the years as you can see how cheaply it was priced in resale market which are strongly driven by supply and demand.
If you really like this brand, go for the most basic signature look model like 000 or 005. If not, just stay away IMO. |

Huh? Surprisingly rosy comments. Frightening drop in value over the past 3 years and way too much inventory. Stick to base models. Was offered a 190 which used to be a grail for the brand recently at what I thought was a steal of a deal. Then I did some research that really opened my eyes. Love the watches but buy them for love not profit.
