Any Love for Seamaster 120M?

Hello,

I bought this watch new back in 2000. It's a 2311.81, blue dial with 18c bezel and links. It has been may daily ever since.

Anyway, I just bought a new watch and I'm not a collector. I just haven't decided whether to sell it or not.

I thought it would be easy to let it go.

Any thoughts?

Thanks,

TW

I'm all about collecting and think the fact you're having a hard time letting it go speaks volumes. It never hurts to have at least 1 watch as a backup. 16 years of ownership must mean a significant amount of sentimental value.

Thanks,

I haven't considered a "back up" watch.

Interesting.

Yeah, in a few years time when you're getting one serviced it's nice to have another good watch to wear for the 4-8 weeks or how ever long it'll take. Absolutely no harm in keeping both.

If you stop wearing your Omega 120M and absolutely fall in love with your new watch, it makes sense to sell your Omega after a while.

What's your new watch, by the way?

Beautiful watch you have there. Here's mine:

I sold it once but was able to get it back a few years later. Mine is rather rare in that the dial was misprinted with "Speedmaster". I usually wear it as a dress watch on a black alligator strap:

Our 120m watches have classic, timeless looks that never go out of style. It would be tough to let mine go again.

It's a Rolex SubC with date. And yes, I do love it.

What a classic Seamaster! I would keep it, perhaps have a Omega do a full service. It's nice to have a dressier and small watch around, something that easily fits under the cuff of a shirt. The 1120 movement is a proven and reliable workhorse. Unless you're hard-up for the cash, I would have a hard time separating with such a classic and faithful companion.

Thanks for all the replies.

I'm going to keep the Seamaster, at least for a bit, probably until I'm gone.

You have caused me to rethink the quandry I have been facing. As I stated, my 120m has been my dress watch for years. I've tried to replace it with ATs and even a Datejust. Each time I've come back to my "Speamaster".

The Globemaster that arrived in April was again intended to be my new dress watch. But like you, the 120m has a special place in my heart. It's an old friend and I can't bring myself to let it go.

I have a Seamaster 120 as well. Mine's a 25013100. It has a great blend of sportiness and style. It looks good with jeans or a suit and it easily slides under the cuff of a dress shirt.
OP it's good to hear that you'll be keeping yours. Continue to enjoy it.
