Interested in a custom Day Date.

Im a pretty big guy so I want a 40mm Day date in either yellow or rose.

I have a couple of caveats, however...

Don't like Jubilee bracelet, want oyster.
Don't like fluted bezel, want plain.
Wan't either black face with Arabic or plain in onyx, MOP or jubilee.

I am OK with aftermarket face and bracelet.

How would you go about putting together a watch like this? Can't seem to find anything out there pre-owned that fits my criteria.

Here is a photoshop mock up of what this watch would look like with a black MOP plain dial.

I think the simplicity is stunning without the gaudiness of Jubilee/flute that looked good in the days of Scarface. Anyone else agree?

Thanks in advance.

You could always buy one and then sell the bracelet and source a gold oyster.
Unlike the 36mm, the dial choices on the 40 are much more limited.
Good luck.

The 40mm one has only recently been released but in time more configurations will be available closer to what you want. I doubt the dial and dauphine hands will ever happen though.

So ok, two questions, no one addressed the bezel, in which on the site, only appears to be available fluted.

Are we 100% certain that the Oyster bracelet for a 36mm is interchangeable with a 40mm Day Date (i.e. the 36mm and 40mm use the same bracelet?)

Where would be the best place to source an aftermarket 18K oyster bracelet with Rolex quality? A 40mm dial? I'm not 100% sure the 36mm hands wouldn't work on a 40 mm watch as the circumference difference isn't enough to sweat over.

Just looked on the Rolex site and the 40mm only comes with various "stick" marked dials, with two variations in roman. I would be willing to send my oem dial in to get refinished as a literally hate "stick" markers.

I think the sale of my oem jubilee bracelet will pay for my modifications and still put money in my pocket.

What would be a good asking price for a new oem Jubilee bracelet in ever rose or yellow? What would a good AM 18k Oyster cost me?

You're changing the watch in a lot of ways. Maybe the DD isn't the right fit for you in the 40mm. You can get the configuration in the 36mm. But that may be too small.

Sorry, missed the part where you said the new 40 mm.

100% certain it isn't interchangeable and smooth bezel isn't available either, yet. You're out of luck I'm afraid.

So what I would simply need is a custom house that can refinish my dial, and slightly modify an oyster bracelet to work with a slightly different circumference. A smooth bezel couldn't be that hard to make by unfluteing my current one.

Doesnt seem too impossible to me. This is what good jewelers do.

Anyone recommend a good customization house?

The endlinks and upper links would have to be broadened to fit the DD40 head. Good luck. Congrats on your recent lottery win btw.

Consider the Datejust 2. 41mm
Comes with Oyster and smooth bezel options and it's not a small watch.

When you're all done, you will have a watch that no Rolex AD nor RSC would service.
