I recently purchased a D-blue deep sea. I love staring at it, but the weight is starting to be an issue and now with the colder air, I am wearing sleeves and the thickness is a bit much. Thinking of adding a SD 4000. Already have a zblue milgauss. Anyone have both a regular SD and SDDS? I don't want to flip the beast, but I guess just wondering if the two watches are just too similar?

Totally different watches, so no problem there. However, my SD isn't what I reach for when I want something to slip under a sleeve.

They are so completely different it would not be an issue what so ever. The SDc fits absolutely wonderful under a shirt and the DSSD will be a wonderful summertime piece!!

The SDDS is a freaking monster! Personally, I'd go for a sub or GMT to add with a DS.

Fwiw, the SD4000 fits comfortably under a business sleeve. Were I in your shoes, I'd find the clash between the DSSD and my shirt sleeve annoying as hell and I'd swap the DSSD for the SD.

The SeaDweller is built like a tank. The fact that the DSSD is built like a tank in a tank adds nothing to the value for me.

But I'm in business sleeves a lot. ;)

Though the SD is a marvellous watch I would go for the Sub next to the DSSD instead. Sub wears really a lot smaller compared to the Dwellers.

Get the SD. If you can keep the DSSD then do it. A good friend has both and swaps them regularly... You can have both in a collection.

When it comes to choosing between a Sub and a SD, its really not choice t all.....an SD wins every time!!!!

Thx for the thoughts. My first impressions of the sub-c are that the lugs are too thick, which makes the case look square. Anyone think the same and then adjust or change their opinion?

I agree. I have had the the SubC twice and i much prefer the new Explorer II and SDc4k lug shape. Much truer to the oysters I fell in love with so many years ago. I current have the SDc4k and it's simply perfect in every way. Can't find a thing I dont like about it.

As for your title "Justified"....in my experience, for a watch nut there's a way to justify just about any watch related purchase...lol

Your wrist is made for the SD...The DSSD is too big on you...according to those pics at least.

They are a clear case of "too close to call".

If you have a big truck, and you think its too big.. Dont try to fix that by buying a smaller big truck.

Get a very nice car instead.

Rolexes are like Porsche 911's: every improvement is met with disdain by the purists.

People complained the the sub wore too small, so they beef up the case and those same people complain that it is too square.

I like the new design, and let the purists buy vintage. Room for both in the watch (and Porsche) world.

The SDc is a great watch, I'd say it was perfect if it was thinner. Having said that, I think that if you purchase a SDc to wear daily, perhaps you won't wear the dssd enough to justify (in your own words) having both. I would probably flip the dssd.

I would keep only one Sub. I put my DSSD on rubber strap and it was much more comfortable. On bracelet the weight was too much after a while.
