Seiko spring bar question...
So I have my SKX007J, which I've been wearing daily with my new job. The day-date complication and accuracy are great. Rotating bezel cane in handy today to monitor activation time for some floor epoxy. Such a great watch.
It's been banged and bashed but you'd never know it. Super comfortable too. Anyway, it is currently on the Seiko "oyster" bracelet. It has the fold over clasp and side release buttons. I also have the black rubber strap that I haven't worn yet. The other day I realized I had some eBay bucks collected and needed to spend them. (I have lost over a hundred one month from not using them!). I always go for their higher return deals and accumulate what I can. It offsets the selling fees slightly... So I got myself a new, take-off "jubilee" bracelet for the Seiko. Now I have the complete set of bracelet options. When I installed it, I quickly realized I need much larger spring bars. I believe the "fat" ones are 2mm but my point in all this is the ends. My case does not have holes, and it seems the genuine Seiko bars (the fat ones) are somewhat like early Rolex ones in that they don't have a second shoulder for a springbar tool. There is a single shoulder unlike the Rolex ones. I do happen to have a Seiko style tool, Which has a sharpened tip and curve to one side of it, so maybe they are supposed to be single shoulder bars and you just need to dig in on them... so that's my question- are the fat bars single shoulder? Is there a double shoulder genuine option here? (I see Swiss made replacement ones but none from Seiko) Thanks guys! |

The genuine Seiko Spring bars are on the right. These are the only ones I've ever seen on all the SKX divers I've owned. The custom spring bars were ordered from Twenty0 on eBay. They are perfect for a watch with lug holes.

Ok perfect Dan thank you. The fat bars are single shoulder only. The picture is worth a couple thousand words I guess!
I have no lug holes so I was reluctant to go with the single shoulder bars but those seem correct. Thanks for the help Dan! Photo of the beast on one of the work benches... |
