Ok guys, still new to wine. This looked appealing, have about an hour or so before I pour the first glass. Is this pretty good? I figure I'll find out around the 6th inning of the Cubs-Dodgers game.

Publix supermarket in Miami Beach was selling a 750 for $69 the last time I picked up a bottle in February. I may need to buy up their inventory if it's still priced the same.

It's a great bottle of wine, produced by one of the finest wineries in the Napa Valley.

If you want to "up the experience", try either there Faye Vineyard bottle, The SLV bottle, or the Cask 23 bottle that they produce.

Cheers

Unlike any other wine, I find Barolo to be undrinkable if too young.

Traditional style you're not wrong, but it's safe with more modern styles and the 10 year rule IMHO

Opening this little gem this evening with steak, chicken and shrimp fondue with the wife.

Definitely a cab drinkers merlot - very full bodied and well structured. Definitely one to try for anyone who rides the fence on Merlots.

Great choice. I drank a few bottles of Darioush during a trip to Napa a couple years ago.

I'm a fan - and if you've never visited, it is totally worth a stop. A tad pricey, but the place is beautiful...and if you want to splurge on a small tour, it's totally worth it.

You're right James! The Berringer Knights Valley Cab bottle (which is a good wine) vs. the SLWC Artemis isn't going to be a fair fight!

Do yourself a favor and grab some Faye, SLV, or Cask23 from SLWC

Will do for the cask 23, I'll have to wait for a night don't have to work so I can enjoy it. Tonight's wine was a last minute decision to go with some grilled pork chops.

Tonight's choice with homemade Italian meatballs and sauce, PM L'Espirit Des Pavots. Very tasty indeed!

I have a few bottles of the Black Slate. How was it?

I need to get a couple of bottles from Trace's family vineyard, Pinot Noir is one of my favorites.

Simply...The Wine Thread

Rather enjoyable in the $22 range...

Winemaker's Notes

The 2013 Waymaker Red Wine has enticing aromatics of blue fruits and pomegranate with hints of savory characteristics. Medium-bodied and juicy, the blend shows off firm tannins, accented by ripe plum, cocoa and a seductive mouthfeel.

Blend: 41% Syrah, 28% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Petite Sirah, 5% Malbec, 3% Grenache, 2% Mourvedre, 1% Tannat

Tonight's selection from left to right. Wife started opening the left one before I got home with the right, hope I make it to the right bottle.

I thought it was very good.
I actually enjoyed it more on the second day(after putting it back in the wine fridge and removing air).
It was the last bottle in the store. I will seek out some more!

Let us know what you think!

A different blend. This is a nice everyday wine, liked it as a 'just because' wine. Not a powerhouse, but very easy to drink

Petite Petit is a great value. Plus not many wines out there made from petite syrah and petit verdot.

You guys that like a blend and and wanna try a wine with up to 15 different grapes go get a bottle of Chateauneuf du Pape, wine from the Southern Rhone area in French. Mainly Grenache, it very light not at a like a Napa Cab. I had my first back in mid 1980 and really is a nice different wine.

Here's some great vintage
2005
2006
2007
2009
2010*
2012
2015******

*Rock Star

Most under 100.00. I really liked the 2009/2010. If the Grenache in any year was off the whole wine is so so.

1998 is mostly out of reach but unbelievably great

Chateauneuf du Pape is hard to beat and rarely find one I don't like. It's such a small appellation and I think that helps with the consistency. Also if you see a bottle with a raised emblem in the glass bottle above the label, all it means is that it means it was bottled on premises.
