1665 Prices and Sales
There have been some high prices asked for Gt Whites recently, but Watchclub had one listed this week for £17500 and it's already sold!! I know the pound is weak and they're based in Bond St, but boy that's a premium and I'm not sure it's a complete set either! Think I'll keep mine another year!

Prices are all over the place for GWs lately. There's a very nice MK1 on VRF right now for $13500, and then there's a good dealer who posted an MK1 recently here for $23500. Both are said to have no or little polish. Go figure. I understand there will always be some variations in price for the same model based on overall condition, patina, independent vs. dealer, service history, etc ... because no two vintage watches are the same, of course. But such a huge gap is odd and tells me the vintage Rolex market is crazier than ever right now. Here's my GW MK1 that I sold recently somewhere between the two numbers listed above.

The market is so volatile right now. I did not think I'd see a MKI Great White go for anywhere close to 23K for a long while.
I'd advise those in the market to be cautious for deals that seem too good to be true, playing on your fear missing out. Right now I see a 1655 straight hand on VRF listed at way below market value. Great deal for no one except the seller because it's fake. |

It's a very common fake 1655 dial. Here's another example.
