Why Grand Seiko?

I am a new Seiko Diver collector. I love the durability and design of their classic divers such as the SKX007 and SRP777. These are in the $200-350 range, so whats the deal with the Grand Seikos which are much, much more?

PS I am sincerely asking because they have a good reputation (from what I can tell) on TRF.

Read, read, and read some more — and not just on this forum — you'll either get it or you won't.

"grand seiko" is a different brand than "seiko".

why is your rolex, IWC and breitling "much, much more" than the SKX007 and SRP777?

Because the attention to detail is second to none.

If you want to dip your toes into the Seiko pool without jumping in, look at the Seiko SARX033 and SARX035. I got the 035 from Seiya because I couldn't shell out almost ten times more for a similar looking GS. It is a tremendously well made watch and is gorgeous on the wrist. Seiko makes well designed and beautiful watches. I would really love to add a GS to my collection someday, but the last few ones didn't sing to me enough. They have to be seen with a loupe to appreciate their greatness .
