Dato - a horological marvel (and gorgeous in the metal). The AP - an astounding feat of engineering.
My choice would be the Lange.

AP. The subdials on the Dato are almost impossible to read.

The legibility thing is an important point as my eyesight is certainly on the decline since I turned 40. It is a bad photo of the AP but I don't have a wrist shot to hand sadly but obviously I have tried it. The ludicrous weight is part of the appeal. But the Lange is just so beautiful........

Voted the AP but believe there are better options out there for the money.

This was my thought as well.

I remember trying it on - it's a stunner and the weight IS part of the appeal IMHO

Given what I've seen of your more formal watch collection, I'd have to go with AP on this occasion. You've got several simply beautiful PP complications - you should ask yourself if the ALS was in your watchbox, how often would you reach for it over your PP's?

Good luck deciding Roger - looking forward to the incoming regardless!

Definitely AP. Depends on your aesthetics preference two very different watches though.

It is a good point. I will be selling some of my collection to ensure that I don't have too many watches in the rotation. No point in having valuable watches sitting in the safe unworn.

That ROO is nice but it would not be my choice for an AP with a tourbillon, I will have to go Lange in this case.

Ceramic bezel an important aspect of the AP's appeal.

Thanks for all the feedback guys.

Don't have a minute repeater. Supersonnerie very impressive but a huge chunk of change!

First used Roger Smith I have seen for sale. Good spot PJ.

I would still pick Laptimer, the rear view wins it. Only downside is the titanium bezel which is not as durable as the ceramic bezel on 26388.

This. That AP goes beyond heavy.
