well if you want to have 2 Patek chronos, then do it and screw any comments about it. At the end you have to be happy with the decision. But if I were in your shoes, I don't see myself buying 2 Pateks chronos with my current mindset. But again the mind of the WIS is still a mystery to me

Well, I did say that you’d summed it up perfectly, didn’t I?

Just because your friend loaned you his, doesn’t mean you have to buy your own – offer him £20 a week/weekly curry and a couple of bottles of Cobra for the duration of the rental period!

Now, when it comes to something different…and bear in mind I’ve no idea what the other slots of watch box contain, here’s a few thoughts.

FPJ Souverain (that’s the one with the PR) or Souverain Centigraphe (1/100ths, 10 minutes chronograph) – Black Label versions preferably, for that extra bit of exclusivity.

Laurent Ferrier Galet
Moritz Grossmann Benu

Leroy Osmior – a division of the Sowind Group (Perrelet, Certina) making 2-300 pieces a year.

Parmigiani Fleurier Toric Tourbillon
Toric Perpetual Calendar
Toric 50th Anniversary
Kalpagraph in Palladium

AL&S Datograph
Lange 1 in Blue
Saxonia Annual Calendar

Chopard LUC Perpetual
LUC Quattro Tourbillon
LUC XPS in Bordeaux

Daniel Roth Perpetual Calendar – owned by Bvlgari since 1999/2001, so that’s where it’ll be serviced. Damage to bottom right lug, should be fixable and may be accounted for in price.
H Moser & Cie Quai de l'lle – an uncommon marriage in haute horologie of RG and Ti, but the tonal hue combo works, as Omega demonstrated a few years back, iirc.

As you can see, you don’t need to blow the whole budget in order to get something interesting and just as nice to wear/look at.

Something went wrong in the previous post, for some strange reason!

H Moser & Cie Endeavour Concept – also look at Monard Big Date, Moonphase, and Perpetual. All beautiful watches, and if bought right, provide excellent value.
Vacheron Quai de l'lle – an uncommon marriage in haute horologie of RG and Ti, but the tonal hue combo works, as Omega demonstrated a few years back, iirc.

If you aren't in love with any of them then save up for the P or sell the 5170 and bump up to the P. Not sure why you are stuck on this reference if you think it is "too big" and in your earlier post you said the "J and R are too similar to what you have and G lacks drama". It seems like you are trying to find a reason to spend 60K+ In your scenario based on what you have said it should be an easy pass. Let us know what you decide

The 5070. What metal to buy?

I been back forward with what Chrono is the one , between 5170's and 5070's ...all are nice ; but my current mindset puts the 5070J in first place

Guys,
I'm bumping this thread because I've made a decision. Putting the pricey P to one side, in a battle of J VS R VS G, it is actually the G which is the winner.
I had all three alongside it each other. The G is beautiful.

Right. Now to get some money!

Prefer Platinum if cost is no barrier. Otherwise, I prefer the white gold model.

Just and side note....
The new 40th anniversary platinum nautilus is a LE 700 pieces
The platinum 5070 was in fact also a kind of a anniversary watch... Made in 2008 while the first 5070 was made in 1998
So yes, the made some 5070p when the watch existed 10 years

Now, the 5070 was an immense popular reference.... More sought after then a nautilus

They made probably between 125 and 175 platinum 5070
They will make 700 platinum nautilus

This gives you an idea how rare that 5070P really is

This metal with the black dial is the sexiest watch ever made.

Not sure if this is the place, apologies if not and will delete, but I am looking to sell a sealed 5070P. If anyone is interested, please send me a PM and we can explore further.
