Buying a new Daytona

I'm fairly new to this site, but have three Rolex watches and wanting to add more to my collection.
I am on vacation in NY and looking at this one:

http://www.jamesedition.com/watches/...6963&tok=29953

Any thoughts / comments are appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Hi Tim,

I'm not familiar with that seller or website but the platinum Daytona with baguette indices is a stunner.

Are you planning to purchase from them or at an authorized Rolex dealer?

Never used that site; but that reference is a definitely THE heavy hitter in the Rolex game. You would be making a solid choice in acquiring one of those. Happy hunting and post wrist shots!

Take a little more time and look around here. The answer will come to you if you do your homework.

I'm personally not keen on diamonds, but this model does diamonds very well. A good deal.

Tim, as a member of that reference club (w/o Diamonds), do some homework here on TRF with the true "trusted sellers". If not having to use an AD is ok with you, huge savings can be had this way...10s of thousands of dollars actually!

This is a big investment, and should be handled as such. Buy smart!

Congrats in advance on a special piece

My thoughts, too.

This is a spectacular model...my only thoughts would be to get the best deal you can. Other than that, congrats in advance!

Agree great reference. To me diamonds look great on some models (like this one) and not so much on others. Getting the ice blue sub dials is almost worth the extra charge in my opinion if you're spending that kind of money anyway.

I can't see myself being a member of that reference club for quite some time, but some day, when I do finally want to become one, I will follow this recommendation.

Platinum Daytona

Thanks for all your thoughts and advice....much appreciated !
I've added some pics.
I think I'm going to pull the trigger unless anyone sees the pictures and has concerns that I'm not aware of?

Cheers
Tim

If you wait, you should be able to get 10% or more off from a trf seller (and not pay sales tax).

I would see how negotiable the seller is.

Are you sure you're comparing this to the price of one with diamonds?

It looks like ask from sellers on TRF is low to mid 50s. The platona witout diamonds is mid 40s.

Don't forget in NYC you also pay almost 9% sales tax.

looks good to me.

I've seen and tried this one on. It's amazing. You're going to love it. It's got some weight to it, too.
