Daily Wearer / Comfort - SD4K vs. SubC ?
I'm down to these two and at the moment feel like I'm gravitating to the SD4K as I like the look.
But I'm concerned about daily comfort & fitting easily under a shirt sleeve. Any thoughts ? Thanks gang |

I had the 5 digit Sea-Dweller then the 114060 directly after. Sub is much easier to wear with a cuff. Comfort is the same.

Matt,
SD4K is a little tough to wear under a cuff. I've only owned the Sub but I am currently on an "extended test drive" of a SD4K and I find it hard to wear as I've transitioned to sweaters due to the dropping temps. I was dead set on buying one but the inability to wear it daily is keeping me away. Bummer... Without the cuff obstacle, I find the SD4K much more comfortable to wear than the Sub, my wrist is 6.75 and the lugs of the Sub do not sit centered.

I have both and they are similar. Although the SD is a little thicker, it's not that noticeable and fits fine under a shirt sleeve.

submariner feels flatter on the wrist than SD, also lighter. I always roll up my dress shirt so wearing a SD is not a problem.

Have had both, it is silly, but I prefer the bezel of the SD4K and date w/ no cyclops.

Sub is safer bet for a daily. Much easier on dress shirts

Hey Matt. I wear mine all the time with t-shirts, but honestly I always opt for the GMT when I'm wearing dress shirts because it is thinner and slips under the cuff. So I guess I'd say that the Sub, which is similar to the GMT in thickness, would be better for you.
As for comfort, no issues there at all. Both the SD and the Sub have glidelock. |

Good deal guys, thanks for the input.
I already own the BLNR so I'm leaning towards the SD4K... more change of pace :) |

When I wear dress shirts, which is rare, I"ll wear my 16710 or 5513. But I love my SD4K for daily wear. I swap between the bracelet and an Everest Rubber Strap....it's been on the Rubber strap for the last 6 months!

SD4K is the best SS sports watch Rolex makes ;) Plus you don't see one on everyones wrist, a perfect size not too big (deep sea) and not too small (subs). SD4K all the way

I wear the SD4K regularly with dress shirts. No problems for me albeit I have a smallish wrist.

I have had the sd4k for two months and only take it off to shower. I was concerned about comfort but it's the most comfortable watch I've worn. I wear shirts sleeves everyday and zero issues fitting under.

The simple truth is that both the SD4K and the Sub are unsuitable for wearing under a shirt sleeve. I have actually taken my Sub off and put it in my pocket because the constant catching on my sleeve was doing my head in. A Sub is designed to go under the water, not under a shirt sleeve. My 39mm just glides under the cuff because of the smooth bezel and no notches. Just accept the fact that Subs and suits are not natural partners. So buy an Explorer, AirKing or DJ for the office and a Sub for casual. Regards Mick |

I don't have Submariner but own GMT MASTER II the closest thing to compare with 116600 Sea Dweller. Sea Dweller is very comfortable and can be a great daily wearer but there is a caveat. I had to remove the diver extension link to make the watch easier and comfortable. Other than that, I don't think one would regret choosing it over Submariner just because having a slimmer watch. Submariner is not that thin either

I have a SubC and never had any issues with it under a cuff. I seriously considered getting an SD4k but when I tried it on it just didn't have the comfort and natural look I love about my LVC.

I've had them both and unless you wear a shirt with cuffs then IMHO the comfort is the same. I will point out thought that I removed the diver's extension from the SD4K to make it more comfortable.

I find the SD4K extremely comfortable. I wear mine 24/7. From October to May I wear a long sleeve dress shirt at work. The cuffs are very tight and they have caused serious headaches with other watches in the past but I have no problem wearing the SD4K. I've also worn it with civilian long sleeve dress attire without any problems.

I own both and suggest that removing the diver extension on the SD4K would be ideal for daily wear. However even after the removal, the sub still wears a bit better as the SD4K is top heavier than the Sub.

I own a modern Sea Dweller, a non-ceramic Submariner, a ceramic GMT (like the Sub-C), a Yacht Master... I wear the Sea Dweller every day and find it perfectly comfortable. Almost as comfortable as the watch I'm wearing today (see picture), a sad day.

Once you remove the extension link from the SD4K, it is the most comfortable Rolex you will ever own. Well, maybe the Rose Gold Yachtmaster on oysterflex is more comfortable, but the SD4K is the most comfortable SS model.

I've got both too and the SD4k is more comfortable, have removed the diving link also which makes a huge difference. Not sure why but it feels more balanced on my wrist than the sub. I have a 16600 also and not having the adjustability of the glidelock means I can't get it to be as comfortable as the newer models.
