OP, As others have mentioned. 1K plus Daytona make it a really good deal. Obviously, you did get "caught up" in the Daytona hype and are looking elsewhere.

The Diver is a great watch and you should go for it, if you can negotiate a better deal.

The boxes alone on eBay are $500+... I think offering $1000 and his Daytona is a fair trade.

I would not give up a Daytona black dial for the AP in question. If I were to do the trade, I would add no more than USD 500.

Thanks for the responses guys. I offered straight trade, he declined and wants 2k, so no deal.

I've heard a lot of things said about the Daytona over the years but not this. It's kind of funny.

Really? 80% of the people I know who wear a Daytona are women. The couple of guys I know with Daytonas wish they had an AP. Maybe its a UK thing?

I don't understand those saying that this should be an even or a $500 trade ... 1.5 to 2k sounds about right for an I (solid case back) as far as I know.

Problem is: Diver is the most boring AP ROO. Keep the Daytona. Save for a 44mm.

It's not a problem, it is for those who want a sporty ROO but without a chrono and/or who swim/dive, plenty of fans.

It was a problem for me: My Diver was so boring I bought a new watch in the middle of my scuba-diving vacation to replace it.

I owned the steel Diver twice and could never warm up to it.

100% I will keep the Daytona. Not a fan of the AP Diver, definitely not for that kind of money!

Had both, both gone.

I very much prefer the Daytona fit, function and size over the diver but that black dial Daytona sure was difficult for me to see in low light....

I would keep looking.

I've been thinking about getting a diver actually.

Last I looked it took around $13K to buy one. I haven't watched Daytona prices in a while but a SS Daytona is, what, $11K?

Seems like a reasonable ask.. What's a box set worth, $2-300 I suppose?

I would not.

You have to consider whether you want to make the trade just because.

The Daytona wears very differently than the Diver.

Keep the Daytona and start saving up for an AP that really sings to you.

Like Zack stated above, the two watches couldn't wear more differently than they do. Make sure you've tried on the Diver plenty of times before making the trade.

That said, I would do it.

Why isn't the box comes with the diver? I mean in most cases we will keep the papers together in the box. Ok, nevermind about the box, what papers are those? The AP instructions and warranty booklets? Or, the seller's invoice which they will claims that watch with papers. Be very careful as the fake diver are very very well copied! Unless, you are buying from a reputable preowned dealer then there is nothing to be worried about, it's only the price you need to consider on how much you need to top up and are you getting a good trade-in value for your Daytona. Other then that, it's a Big Yes to swap your Daytona to AP diver!

I think it depends on the ladies you roll with. I know a lot of women who wear the SS or RG daytona... It's become a unisex watch. But, still, it's very much a mans watch, no doubt... Sexy as hell on a woman - "good enough for a man, but PH Balance for a woman" that was a commercial for women's deodorant here in the US
