Oyster Case Chamfers?

While there are lots of threads on Oyster case "chamfers" (bevels) they seem to be rather old. e.g.

http://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=200368

Is there consensus on which references featured these?

They appear to have been phased out. Do we know when this might have begun?

I'm confused about where I should look for them (which refs) and where I shouldn't bother.

Anyone?

50's all the way up to the early 2000's.
For the most part they became less pronounced over the years. My P serial Sub still had a small bevel but nothing like a 6538 from the 50's.
Some of the new Tudor models have strong bevels.
One of the things I really miss on the modern sport Rolex maxi case...no bevel at all.
Most Sub and GMT models had bevels over the years.
