DJ Kennedy - Some of the rarest of the rare.

DJ Kennedy made pens for Neiman Marcus' Christmas catalog for 2 years and all of them were one offs or unique.

When you can find one (or a set) do pick it up for your collection as they are just extremely rare. You can read more about his work here:

I just acquired this set. Lovely! And yes... he did build the fountain pen around a Sheaffer inlaid nib.

Just on a whim I purchase from Ebay the Neiman Marcus catalog from 1994 in an attempt to see if this pen was offered as that is the date that Kennedy inscribed on the pen.

Did not see it there. Sigh.....! But the inscription does say Neiman Marcus Dallas 1994 so it may have been something sold in the Dallas store regional.

Anyway... every now and then it is pleasurable to just get a pen that has a history, is a one off, and is something that is not easily found or offered.

With such rare pieces, outside the pen world, I've found it's difficult to get straight answers. Most leads end up being rumor and it's extremely difficult to track down hard information. Good luck on your quest! It could take years to get the answers you seek.

You are very astute! My sincere compliments!

However a pen like the Kennedy's are grounded and sold via Neiman Marcus catalogs! Proven and yet so very interested to its own.

My Kennedy FP is completely solid and a joy to write with. I don't really care what its composition is. It is almost enough to know that this gentleman designed and created a one off pen at sometime in the past that will be enjoyed for decades to come!

Love it!!!

Let's just set it straight when it comes to a DJ Kennedy pen.

The are a one off and unique creation.

It is not unusual to pay $3000.00 for one.

They were typically created as sets! A FP and a BP ring pen.

They accept their place in FP history.

Created as an art, there is nothing that will be compared with any other pen maker.

Not much left to say...!
