I've been thinking about trading in my 16713 N-Serial Root Beer GMT for the new Daytona 500 black dial. Before I ask if I should trade it in towards the new Daytona-C, Let give you a list of watches I own and maybe you guys can help me decide if I have too many of one Rolex. What is something you guys would give up from below to trade towards the new Daytona 500 black?

I love all my pieces but, I find myself not wearing the 79280 Tudor as much and the Speedmaster Legend

I was thinking of trading in my Rootbeer gmt, Tudor 79280 Oysterdate, and Speedmaster Legend towards the Daytona-C. I prefer not to spend that much cash, so I would be willing to trade those 3 listed above along with added cash. LMK what you guys think.

Your 16713 is going up in value and the 500C will eventually stabilize at MSRP. You have an exceptional collection already so I would advise waiting for awhile. I would keep everything you have!! Beautiful collection by the way!

If it were me, I'd trade one of the LV's and maybe the 520 (unless you think you'll still wear it).

This forum is a blessing and a curse! That is why I love this forum!
My concern about the 16713 is that it has no papers. I'm the type of person that has to have papers for all my watches. But this 16713 was a great deal and I haven't seen it in a while so I bought it on impulse. The root beer gmt works perfectly and I want to send it to RSC so that I would at least get a card(to satiate the validity of my piece, I know my piece is real, its been inspected by different reputable watchmakers in GA). But I'm worried RSC will change out the tritium dial and the hands. I don't want my dials or hands to be messed with, thats the reason why I'm considering the 16713 as a trade piece, because no papers.

Yeah I was thinking about the 116610LV instead of the 16610LV. The 16610LV is staying in the family. I kind of want to keep the 520. It's nice to have the 520 and the 500.

I would follow your heart and get it serviced with the following instructions about the hands and dial. They will not change without your permission. Also not having the original papers for a watch of that era is not a big deal. These references are getting harder and harder to find so please do keep it!!

Rest assured the RSC will be well aware of the importance of keeping the hands and dial original!!

So, what you're essentially saying is that I can get my root beer gmt serviced by RSC as long as I state that I DO NOT WANT the hands and dials to be changed? What if they come up with some BS about having to change the tritium dial and hands? Thats what I'm really afraid of. I agree the root beer is hard to find, but the thought of losing the original dial and hands scare me =(

Is has been my experience (I have service many pieces) that they will not change anything that you request to be left alone. Heck many member ask for their watch to not be polished and they happily agree.

Not sure where you are located but you can drop it off in person at a RSC and give specific instructions.

Several other members will Chime in here about their vintage pieces soon. Yours isn't that old to be overly worried. But it is a keeper!!

I will be going to NYC over the Christmas holiday. Maybe ill stop by the RSC there. You're right, this ref. is def a keeper. Ill just wait until there are more Daytona-C in the market and then get one.

I've always wanted the Root Beer...I've only seen it in person once in my whole life time. So I think I will keep it for now and wait for the Daytona-C hype to simmer down a bit. I must admit, I was pretty set on getting rid of the rootbeer gmt because I was worried about RSC. Now that some are saying that the dial and hands wont be touched, makes me love this particular ref. more.

This is all because of box and papers? Actually just papers cause you can source a box. It's just a paper that means so little. Keep the watches and add another.

Yeah its all about the paper. I guess I'm just OCD? Anyways, I've decided to keep the root beer gmt. The members who posted in this thread made compelling arguments about keeping this watch.

That is an amazing collection.

The Omega on the bottom right will overlap some with the white D500...I guess it would be on the chopping block for me if I really wanted the Daytona. Plus you have a nice speedy already.

And then maybe the Tudor Bronze is a little much since you've got the Root beer. If you're going to trade anything, those would be my two picks.

But I just got the Bronze on the 8th of this month!!! >.< It hasn't even patina'd yet! But yeah, the Bronze might go (to fund something else, not the Daytona-C) if I can't find an alternative 23mm strap for it. But the BBB is a beaut in person. I'm going to wait for the Daytona-C to drop/become more available before I make the jump. The premium is crazy on those Daytona-C!

That's quite a collection. If it was, I'd start to consolidate. I say any watch that can be replaced is "on the table" towards a Daytona C or the 520.

Not knowing any sentimental value on your current watches, if a DaytonaC is a must have I'd part with a couple of Tudors, and an Omega. I agree with your recent post that you have a black dial Daytona so you should add the white dial ceramic over the black dial ceramic. I personally don't love the Rootbeer from an aesthetics point of view, but it's probably the one increasing in value and it's certainly not seen often so I'd keep it, if it were me.

But, yeah, I think you're making the good call. The Daytona-C seems to be settling down fairly quickly, and you're set with some real nice watches.
