Those Dupont pens are so incredibly smooth right from the factory. Amazingly clean and smooth pens, if only they had a true piston type of filling mechanism.

I've been eyeing a Dupont for years but the timing is never right. Have to fix that one day! ![]()

St Dupont is another maker I really like. The best way I know to sum up the ST Dupont experience is that they pay full attention to even the most mundane of details and finish the places that don't show to the same high standard as what does show.
There is one thing folk should be aware of and that is the fact that ST Dupont changed cartridge/converter standards. The early pens, the Classique, Gatsby, Lady and Montparnasse pens used the Parker Standard cartridge/converter while the later models, Ellipsis, Fideleo, Olympio/Orpheo, Neo-Calssique, Classique 2 and later ones are International Standard cartridge/converter. ![]() |

I note on the three pens to the right the small square of lacquer on the clip. Two of my pens also have it, but modern renditions of what seems the same pen only have a small cut-out on the clip, where the bit of lacquer used to be applied.
The nib on the Dupont I use daily is stiff but it is as smooth as one could possibly imagine and pours a wonderful line of ink. It has a personality of its own and stands out from the rest of my pens as unique. It's like a smart and very independent child. I like this pen a lot, I even like the hue of bluish green very much. |
