Newbie Red Sub Question

I am looking at a barn find Red Sub 3 series and it will probably need service. The dial, hands, bezel and insert seem original and it good shape. The crystal has seen better days. If I send it to RSC to have the watch serviced, other than the above what should I request they not change? I would hate to destroy the value of the watch by having it "fixed" even if by Rolex themselves.

Thanks for the expert advice!

Sounds like a great find. Personally, I use an independent for any vintage work. Gives me more sense of control over the work I want completed. Plus I can source original parts. Even a service plexi changes the look slightly.
Good luck with the acquisition.

Couldn't agree more. Plus, with a good independent, they'll work with you along the way, and keep you posted on where they're at and what they're doing. Often, something may come up that they'll need your feedback on. Plus, these guys work with collectors and vintage pieces with a respect that you probably won't get from RSC.

I see you're from Washington. I'm a DC guy, myself, and I wouldn't steer you wrong!

Hmm, I was hoping RSC was a little more delicate nowadays with the vintage pieces. My concern is getting the movement up to snuff and relatively water resistant. Also, wouldn't hurt getting the warranty from RSC.

Thanks for the advice!

I am new to the vintage stuff, so much to learn. Can you recommend a guy in the area that has done work for you?

Fell through:(

We couldn't agree on price, I think they were reaching a bit. Thanks for all the advice and hopefully I will get to use it in the future.
