OK, so I'm on the wait list... how long am I going to wait?

Ok, so I visited 3 AD's, 2 in NYC, 1 in NJ and put my name on the wait list for a Daytona C...

My question is... now that I'm on the wait list... how long am I REALLY going to wait? (I got NO straight answers from any of the AD's, just that there is a long waiting list)

For whatever it's worth, I got my BLNR and Deep-Sea-blue from one of these AD's; both are "allocated" pieces, and both I got in just weeks, not months (or years)...

Thanks!

No way of knowing. Hopefully you'll get lucky. I'm on the list at Leonardo's in Red Bank since June.

A lot of members (including myself) have placed deposits or names on a list since the Daytona was released at Basel and are still waiting.

You will wait at least 6 months to 1 year + hopefully.

You never know. I'd keep in touch with those ADs to see when they expect to receive their next shipment. Money talks and a deposit may help to persuade them that you are more serious than the next guy on the wait list.

You get it when they call up all of there priority clients. After all of them have been served or if they don't want it you'll get the call.

Depends if the supply opens up any but from what I have been seeing if black sooner than the white and if they keep the way it is going you may want to look at the sites dealers. I have been on the list for a White dial and called the day it was announced to every dealer in NJ. Funny how when you ask them where you are on the list the numbers are changing but not the way you would want them to go. one dealer I was 3 last month but checked 2 months ago and I was 7. Keep in mind I maybe not the biggest spender but I seems to spend at least 35k a year with them and that is for the 4 years. I am thinking of just using one of the grey dealers that post here. The way I am starting to think about it is if I need to pay tax in this state that is about $ 870 then the way it is looking if Rolex does a price change how much more am I really spending. Most dealers are taking names and if none of the 100k spenders want it then you will get a call and who wouldn't want it at msrp so basically taking your name means nothing. I have also offered to pay in full and the answer is well that list is closed already as we have no idea how long the list will be to fill.

i put my name down at a Manhattan AD the day it was announced. Never purchased one before let alone from them and have gotten the usual runaraound. Ended up getting a white dial from an AD in Asia just by walking in the shop as they just got the shipment in and I was willing to buy then and at a premium.

My friend gets a call from a friend of his a few weeks ago. Same AD was offering him black dial for 2K over list and said they are only allowed to sell to previous customers (my friend is a previous customer and would have had to buy it for me if i wanted it - ridiculous). i said no and my friend told them hell no at that price). The response was that they expect more black dials in the new year and there really isnt a waiting list for them, only the white dials.

Walked into the Rolex boutique on 5th Ave the other day because now i have the fever and want more. Woman saw my white dial, i asked her how many on the list, she said 400....

I have been able to source 2 others from HK, one direct from an AD and one grey, all way over list which I ended up passing on before purchasing the one I did, which was still over list but not as much as the first two.

How can an AD charge over list for a new piece?

Have to agree and just like the old Daytona when first launched way back in 2000 most were sold then flipped for profit. Its not like this Daytona ceramic is a new watch, its just the old Daytona with a ceramic bezel and slightly different dials. But I would expect many are sold then flipped to the grey for profit, plenty around in the grey market at premium prices.

"officially", they dont. The NY AD called it a "finders fee". That cost would definitely not show up on your receipt.

Only the ADs would know for sure how long it will take. Seems like they will take care of you as they have in the past.

This. It took me 6 months and I was on the list right after Baselworld. But I would wait. Don't pay over retail. It's a great watch but it's not the only Rolex to love.

Best to put your name down with a dozen smaller town ADs and ring them every week.

Zero, have been waiting since March/April and e-mail and visit my AD on a regular basis. Received the call in late June for the Black face and decided to pass until the White arrives.
