I'm sure it's not the their first time in pulling off such a stunt. I hope they'll be caught soon. Scums!

Brazen, unfortunately the clerk shouldn't have walked away from them. Decent pics, I bet that someone will recognize them and that they'll be caught.

Yikes. The pictures are pretty clear so that should make it easier to locate them!

From an inventory and security standpoint, shouldn't high-end jewelry stores consider (or utilize) those locking front doors where the sales staff lets you in and out? That combined with 'common sense' customer profiling on the part of the sales personnel would probably reduce the occurance of such incidents and maybe provide an insurance break.

I work at a pawn shop with a system like this. Profiling customers is next to impossible. I've had people who looked homeless come in and spend thousands and some of the people who present the best come in to pawn their stuff. Judging a book by its cover won't get you far in sales.

Locking Irate criminals in sets its own set of problems too. While I have a safe room, its not feasible to expect my customers to know what to do in the event of an emergency, and it seems insane to lock criminals in the store with you until police arrive. Alot can happen in that 6 minutes, desperate people do desperate things. I'd like to not be put in the position to choose what happens to someones life, and for that reason, I'd let them walk out the door and deal with the police and insurance instead of putting myself and others in a potentially deadly situation.

Wow! I was in that store this past summer. I actually met the manager they interviewed. He was a really nice guy. I guess at least it didn't get violent or them smashing all the cases.

If everything was to protocol, it's apparent the blame lies with the thieves. They'll be caught soon. Posting the serial would also help it turn up quicker in the event someone is doing their due diligence.

store needs new protocol. leaving 40k in watches lying around while you walk to another room is incredibly dense.
