It was late on a wet London Saturday night as fight fans streamed out of the Battersea Boxing Emporium. Inside a changing room a distaught manager was consoling a brutally beaten and scarred ex champ who had just regained consciousness.

"Son this has to be your last fight. Any more beatings like this and you might not pull fru. I wouldn't be able to face your Rita and the kids."

"Boss, give me one last fight. I know I can still do it."

"Son I can't. Your like my own child."

"But Boss believe in me. Let me fight the Brentford Basher. I know I can take 'im."

"No son, what about Rit' and the kids, your dear muvver."

"I love 'em too but just one more fight. The Basher can be taken in 5, I know it. I know it"

"But son, I love you like one of my own, I can't."

"Boss, if that's true then give me one last shot at the Brentford Basher."

Boss in tears: "I wish I could son, I wish I could. You've 'ad a good career in the fight game, quit while you still can." ----The Boss is sobbing.

" You don't believe in me, you never 'av, all I am asking is for one more fight against the bloody Brentford Basher!"

"But son! SON!---
