Watch box with magnets
Hey guys,
I use the following box for my timepieces (https://www.barringtonwatchwinders.c...s/6-watch-case). It is a really nice box and does the job (Let me know if you have any questions regarding the box). However when one closes the box, one needs to lock it with the key which is provided. I find that pretty annoying and tend not to do it most of the times. This is really dangerous because if unlocked, the lid can open if the box is not picked up securely from the base causing the time pieces to fall out. I wanted to add some magnets to the box (http://www.magnet4sale.com/Block-neo...ndfeb-Magnets/) but was wondering if that could potentially magnetize the timepieces. Thanks in advance |

I don't get it? Why would the lid just open when you pick it up, unless you are turning it on its side or upside down? You don't need magnets. You just need to be more careful.

Depending on the strength and the proximity of the magnets to your watches they could become magnetized, I wouldn't do it.

How about self-adhesive velcro strips, cut to size? Or just keep a thumb on the lid when carrying.

I wouldn't put magnets in a watch box. How about a big rubber band around the box or just be careful when you pick it up?

Here you go. Snap fasteners. Glue them on. Pack of 14 less than five bucks.

Thanks guys for your inputs. Reading all your response I don't think I will be adding the magnets to the box, I will just have to be a little more careful.
