More info about this oyster speedking?

Hello everyone,

I am new to this forum and I joined because I wanted some more info about my Rolex watch. I got it from my grandfather and he didnt know anything about it. He only had the case, so I bought a strap first. I did some research and the watch has to be from around the 1950's. I found some similar watches, but none of these has an engraved text between the lugs above the dial: BREVET +. I am mostly interested in this part of the watch. Does someone know what the BREVET + means? There is also a + located at the crown of the watch. So can you guys help me to become wiser about this watch? I added some pictures as attachements to the post. (Yeah it is badly scratched ) By the way, sorry for my bad English.

Now days they put Registered there instead of Brevet..

Well used Speedking, late 40's, early 50's is a good approximation; the SpeedKing was introduced in the late 30's.. Alpha hands were 40's and 50,s and by the late 60's they were using the baton hands. Most of the manual winds, like this one, dropped much of the badging and only sported Oyster and Precision or Super Precision by the 70's. Nice heirloom, enjoy
