As mentioned, the watch is 100% junk, and he probably knows it.
In my experience, the "gift from a family member" story is rarely true.
Second only to the "inherited from my grandfather/uncle" story.

my grandfather left me a set of broken bagpipes........ im in the wrong family, i never realised soooooo many family members hand down rolex's on a whim?

I would tell him you suspect it might be a replica and he should have it inspected by a Rolex AD to be sure and leave it at that.

I know a lot of people are suggesting you don't tell him it's a fake, but it would be a shame if he spent money on an authentic Rolex bracelet not realizing the watch is fake.

tell him, because you are a friend, nothing worse than walking around thinking you have a real Rolex and finding out later you have a fake! as a real friend he needs to know the truth!
