(1) Ok... but I got used to it quickly ![]() (2) That's not really true. JLC movement is said to be more reliable and time-tested with fewer problems from what I heard. Anyway, other than the thicker bracelet, the 15400 is also not a robust / bang-round-watch aka Rolex. The 15202 Jumbo has the advantage of being very slim so reduced the change of accidentally coming into contact with something. (3) Isn't the same can be said of the White Nautilus 5711? ![]() Actually, if there is one thing against the 15202 imho is the lack of a quick-set date. Anway, I will pick the 15400 if 15202 is not an option. ![]()

Easy call between a 5711 and a 15400. 5711 hands down.
The harder and more accurate debate is between the 5711 and 15202. Fit and finish and quality is more on par between these two. I am a fan of the 15400 though - from a price point stand point there is a large difference between the 15400 and 5711 - probably $10k with discounts. The 5711 and 15202 is a bit delicate due to the hand polishing and finishing on the bezels, bracelets, etc. It's something that has held me back on them as I am a bit rough on my watches.

3) The nautilus boasts a 120m water resistance which eclipses that of the 15202 and furthermore Patek's cal 324 is one of the best auto calibres and work horse movements in current production in my view and thus i feel the Nautilus is much more of a "durable" watch than the more collector grade 15202. Price is ofcourse a consideration. None of these watches are "banger" watches like a sub sure, my use of "durability" has to be taken in context of Luxury Sports.

I agree that perhaps the 15202 vs the 5711 is a more apt comparison, however I need to take into account practicalities and ignoring price, I feel the 15400 is more of a direct comparable to the 5711.

That makes no sense. The only difference is the movement between the 2 watches. And that the 15202 is slightly thinner. I don't see the movement or thinness have ANYTHING to do with fit or finish. Let's be honest. The 5711 is a waste. You can get a BETTER finish watch for half the price in the 15400. While patek is great no one finishes a bracelet like AP. Patek is a close second. Now if you want to compare to a twin time or something, well then that's a different story. |

Well the 15202 the entire case and bracelet are thinner in construction than the 15400. Generally speaking, making and finishing something that is smaller and thinner is harder than doing it with larger parts. Furthermore the dial of the 15202 is constructed slightly differently and ofcouese the moment is finished to a different standard to the "workhorse" 3120 that's what i meant. Sure these things are nitpicking and in reality there is not much between but this is a watch forum so we must nitpick! However i agree with ur statement about the VFM point of 15400 and how expensive the 5712 relatively speaking. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

My vote goes for the 15400 as well. I'd want either the black or blue. I personally got the black one. A year and half later, and I'm still in love with this piece. And to me, the Nautilus bracelet and clasp make it feel like a cheaper watch.

I've had a 5712 and currently own a 26124st and I can honestly say the Royal Oak has better bracelet and case design/finishing. Nautilus retains better value. So depends what is more important to you.

Having owned a 5711 and 5712 as well as a 15202, 15400, 15450 and 26124. The royal oaks are much better constructed, more sturdy and better finished. I get the impression you are coming to your conclusion only down to brand name. No offence intended. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Guys taking into account the forum poll result. I have now decided to purchase the 5711 white as my turn has come from my AD. Thank you everyone for taking the time and effort to post photos and your thoughts.

Kick ass news! We look forward to its arrival. It will be easier to add a 15400 later, they are much more readily available (and cheaper).
I went the other direction. I got the black 15400 and am finding that it's going to be much harder to add a 5711. |

Another vote for a blue 15400. I personally think a 5711 is a bit simple for me, and while the Naut bracelet is probably the most comfortable bracelet I have ever felt, the RO bracelet design is just brilliant and I love the shimmer.
