Could these patents be a clue as to the new Rolex(es) introduced next week?...

"It is a major objective of the invention to propose a time displaying device, notably a timepiece, such as a wristwatch, which is able selectively to display two time zones using a switchover mechanism that is simple and made up of a limited number of components. Another objective of the invention is to propose a time displaying device of simple reliable and robust construction that allows easy correction of one and other of the time indications of the two time zones."

"In this type of chronograph, a second secondhand, commonly referred to as a flyback hand, is superposed on the sweeping hand of the chronograph. When the chronograph pushbutton for starting the stopwatch is pressed, the flyback hand remains superposed on the sweeping hand. A first press of the split-time pushbutton causes the flyback hand to stop, while the sweeping hand continues its sweep. A second press of the split-time pushbutton returns the flyback hand to the sweeping hand."

I think we all know what's coming!!! A NEW CHRONO!!!

"The invention relates to a persistent phosphorescent ceramic composite material which is a sintered dense body comprising two or more phases, a first phase consisting of at least one metal oxide and a second phase consisting of a metal oxide containing at least one activating element in a reduced oxidation state. The invention furthermore relates to a method for the preparation of a phosphorescent ceramic composite material as defined in any of the previous claims, the method comprising the following steps: preparing a mixture of a metal oxide and a phosphor; fabricating a green body from the mixture; and heat treating the green body in a reducing atmosphere."

In other words, a luminous material embedded into a ceramic bezel!

But are they doing it already? I'd imagine patents filed in 2014 are way down the pipeline.

Does anyone remember when they patented the Skydweller bezel mechanism, and when did SD come out eventually?

Well, they patented the OysterFlex strap for the Yacht-Master released at Basel last year on February 27, 2014. Obviously a new watch/movement is going to be a lot more involved than a watch strap, though.

That's my assessment too - new Tudor models coming! I think I'm going to have to find me a cave next week, with no internet access

Bumping this thread...anyone think these patents will make their way into any 2017 models?

I recall seeing this "big date" patent a few months ago. I hope this is in a Rolex model, I was hoping a big-date SkyD, since I always thought the date@3 with cyclops slightly overlapping the center subdial was a weird placement on that model.

Alright, the 2017 teasers are out. The above patents show pushers. Guess they're what we'll see next week!
