the "original" nato strap?

apologies for what seems like a very vague question, but years ago i remember looking up a certain group of collectors (comex sub's and the sort) and they all were trying to find this one certain NATO strap,

was an off grey, material a little different that usual.. and it had significance (i want to say GPF MOD, or some group of letters that described the strap)

from that i searched and found one and i love the strap despite it's cloth like material pulls apart quicker but now trying to find another and cant seem for the life of me to remember what it's called to then search for one.

anyone have a clue?

apologies again, i know exactly what i want but cant for the life of me remember what it's official name is.

The Phoenix feels different than most NATOs, but it is actually a bit stiff when new. Needs a few decades of wear.

The one I got is the typical nylon... unlike the Tudor natos which are woven. I think the Phoenix one is softer

I wish you could still get the Phoenix strap from AD's. As nice as it would be to have the original I think ToxicNATOS' Admiralty is one of the best on the market. Great color, nice hardware, and very comfortable!

Seems to be a big inconsistency when you look these up. Some appear to be Gray while others appear to be more of a dark blue. I kind of like the blue tint , I already have a plain gray/silver. Anyone who own one have any input?
Maybe it's just lighting in the photos?

Well the one pictured directly above your post is not the strap in question....it's not the Phoenix and looks nothing like mine. I own two of the Phoenix Admiralty Grey natos, and they are both the same mid grey-blue color.

"original" nato?

You were probably aware, but in case not, the "original" nato G10 popularized by Sean Connery's James bond was actually green with red, not grey.

I think you're confused as to the question. The question is not about the original Bond nato strap, but rather the original nato strap, period. Bond had nothing to do with it.

The Royal Navy must operate a bit different to the one we have over here. Dare I ask what else is for sale at that store...

The Rolex was Broccoli's apparently and on the NATO because the bracelet was sized for him and would not fit Connery. That is what I read somewhere anyhow.

I'm still trying to erase the image from my brain of a broccoli wearing a Rolex....
