causes of inconsistency

My DaytonaC has been running pretty consistently at +1 to 2 secs during my normal wear period during the day (call it around 8am - 8pm).

Lately I've noticed some occasional deviations to +4 seconds during that same period.

I normally walk to/from work which takes about 35-40 mins. This morning I measured before leaving and measured after and the watch gained 2 seconds.

My hypothesis is that on days when I expose the watch to a big deviation of temperature (it was roughly 3 degree Celcius outside), this causes the deviation as its the biggest variable I can think of during these deviation days. I know the parachrome hairspring is supposed to be less sensitive to temp changes but I have seen Padi mention metal expanding/contracting (presumably due to temp change) as a factor too.

So I was wondering, is this a plausible hypothesis or am I way off the mark?

BTW leaving my watch for 24hrs in different positions (dial up, crown up, 12 o'clock up) during the weeks results in -2spd to +2 spd so all seems fine from the perspective.

Any thoughts would be appreciated!

My thoughts you are worrying over nothing just wear and enjoy your watch in good health that's far more important than a few seconds out of 86400 in a day.

I had a feeling you were going to respond with that! All due respect but some of us are simply much more OCD than you and additionally in my case, Im also new to the world of mechanical watches so this is also to get insight on these wonderful machines tend to behave.
