Newbie Question

Just Got my first Rolex ever yesterday (HULK), have a quick question. How Durable is the cyclops eye? I'm afraid if I wipe my shirt on the crystal (like I always do, bad habit I know) I'm afraid of damaging it. Any reason for concern?

Unless your shirt is made of diamonds, I'm not sure how that would be possible!

It is fine! Just have a cloth with you if you don't like wiping on your shirt

A hammer and flat head screwdriver is about the only way that thing is coming off.

One of my watches was bought new in the early 90s. Its magnifier is still crystal clear and it is a daily wear watch. It is worn under shirts with French and regular cuffs. Unless you bang it on something really hard, it will be just fine. I clean my watches with a soft toothbrush and dishwashing soap, rinse them well , and dry with a soft towel.

No need to worry. Clean crystal and cyclops with a soft cloth and use an old worn toothbrush, damp, on the rest, then rinse the whole watch under lukewarm water from a spigot and dry in a towel or similar. Just make sure you check the crown is screwed down!

The cyclops on my sea dweller wiped off, but I got a great discount on the watch because of that. It didn't even damage the crystal underneath. J/K. Durable watch sir. I can't stand fingerprints on mine or dust and i wipe it off all the time.

Wipe away!
I wipe my cyclops twice a day - before wearing the watch in the morning and after wearing it coming from work.

OK to wipe the cyclops but be careful not to wipe the bezel as it will fade.

Kidding. Just wear it in good health and enjoy.
Good luck.

Congratulations on your great looking Hulk! Modern Rolex watches use a sapphire crystal cyclops so no worries about wiping it away. Direct impact on the Cyclops might knock it off. Wipe away and enjoy! Cheers!
