GMT Experts Needed: GMT 16750 (I think?) - Pics inside
I have been offered this 16750 (I think?). Unfortunately, the seller is more clueless on it than I am, and somehow takes more blurry pics than I ever could. I have no experience dealing with older GMT's, so hopefully someone can review these pics and give me a quick yes or no. My guess is a 16750 with replacement dial due to the WG surrounds. The fonts look a bit off to me though. How far off am I? Worth making an offer for? Junk?
And yes, no matter what, I will take the watch to be inspected/opened up, unless this watch is entirely fugazi from the pics.

16750 came with WG surrounds. Early models with all matte dial, later like this one. Plastic crystal, caliber 3075 quick set date (contrary to GMT 1675). Mid 80's model? Could be all original, and that's good.
In my book the most attractive 16750 is the ones with matte dial and no WG surrounds (but that's me...) Best, A |

Scott,
The 16750 originally came with a matt dial sans WG surrounds. Latter versions indeed carried a gloss WG dial as original equiment. Whats interesting about this piece is the "OYSTER PERPETUAL" designation as opposed to "OYSTER PERPETUAL DATE" normally found on gloss dials. |

Yes, I noticed that also, but was a bit uncertain... early 16760 GMT II's also have dials like that.

After a LOT of digging, I found what appears to be another 16750 with WG surrounds + lack of 'date.' I guess I have a date with my watchshop this weekend to have its guts inspected.

I know one an original 87 example with a matt dial. The learning never stops. |

Thank you for your wisdom Mike.
Anyone have a very rough estimate of how much I should be aiming to eventually pay for such a piece?

Depending on condition, $4000 on up for the GMT 16750. You could find one for less, just depends on what's going on with the seller and circumstances for the sale.

Scott, I know that Zane on TZ has an OP and OPD on his 16750, not 100% sure if it's a matte dial or not, I seem to remember its a gloss dial. The watch looks good to me, what's the serial?

I won't know until I have the watch in my hands (hopefully soon). Like I said, the seller is absolutely clueless on the watch, but I'm sure my shop can sort us out. Might make for a nice daily wearer.

Looks good..
H on the clasp could indicate an '83...Could be original through and through.... It's always good to find other known examples to compare to - keep us informed.
