Drsd mk4

Hi guys

My friend is selling a DRSD Mk4 dial and the watch is totally original and unpolished. Everything that came with the watch except the punch papers. The watch is possibly the best I've ever seen but I'm new to the vintage Rolex minefield and was loooking for some advice from you experts. He asking for 30K GBP ? Is that a fair price

thats really quite expensive. a nice one sold at sothebys in the week for about £25k that you might want to point him too....that was actually quite expensive too....the seller of that received probably less than £20k .

personally id have though between friends high teens , maybe £20k was all the money for a watch without punched papers.

Thanks Jedly1

Yes that's what I thought when I've been looking on web. The witnessed the one a Sotheby's but that one was no where near as good a condition as my friends. The prices on the DRSD seem to be all over the place.

I'm not knowledgeable enough to comment on the DRSD, but I will say you have a very nice collection already!! Love the WG BLRO.

There will be a double red in the fellows auction at the end of next month, that may give you a bit of an idea of current values.

Does your friend's DRSD have a service insert? From the pic it doesn't look like a fat font (as compared to the fellows auction watch).

From what he tells me it the original bezel and not a service one. The watch has just been serviced by Rolex approved centre and they confirmed everything is original.

Now that it's been confirmed as original maybe you can negotiate a bit with your friend? I would think a friend price of £20k wouldn't put him in the poor house. The problem is, the demand is so crazy high for these reds right now that if he holds out for top dollar he will probably get it from someone. The question is, just how good of a friend is he exactly??

Not sure I agree with that assessment, based on the photo. Here is my (former) DRSD with the original insert. Look at how much fatter the font is on it compared to the other insert.

As Swish mentioned, the bezel insert is a service insert - a replacement, regardless of what the Rolex Service Center told you.

I know a couple individuals here in the USA that recently purchased DRSDs and, at least in the USA, they are selling for or near $30,000 for nice ones.

If the original warranty paper is missing, the box, booklets , manuals and hang tags add minimal to the value - probably $900 to $1,200 - if everything else is there.

RSC may well comment that it is 'original' but this could simply mean 'genuine'. 30k GBP is definitely on the high side. 25 would be fair to both parties I reckon.

I don't know about the price , If it helps I purchased a MK4 DRSD late 2014 full set with punched papers for 22,500 euros .

Some one said the right price is the price that makes you both happy !
