Vintage Non-Rolex Question
My dad gave me his vintage late 60's/early 70's 18Kt Juvenia watch.
I made a poor decision to try to set it to time and wind it after so many years sitting in a bank deposit box. The crown fell out as I attempted this. I have since lost that crown. Does anyone know a reputable source to send this to and what is the likelihood that a replacement crown can be found or fabricated? I would like to eventually remove the gold bracelet and put a leather strap on it and wear it. Thanks. |

I don't know any good watch repair shops in your aera, but I do know that any good watchmaker can either source the parts needed or make a good stem and crown on a lathe.

Any watchmaker/repair center should be able to do it. I wonder if the crown was signed at all, do you know? Otherwise, I would just offer a generic replacement. If the stem is still inside and intact it shouldn't be more than $30-$40. Chances are the movement needs to be serviced though.

Simple and classy. After all these years, a great looking white dial. That design will never go out of style.

The stem was attached to the crown so lost both as one. I don't recall the crown having any design on it. ...and yes, definitely needs a full blown service. |

Another question:
I assume best to leave it as is and not dare do any polishing, correct? Or does it really matter on this particular reference? I frankly like it as is. |

I've heard great things about Venessa but since you are on the east coast moreover in FL look up Rik Dietel at www.timecareinc.com He's in Tampa and he'll tell you straight up if it's worth fixing and if he can help. leave polishing to the pros

Extremely knowledgeable. Knows the brand well but won't be able to let me know until he sees it. May or may not be repairable, depending on parts. Recommends polishing it in this case. Thanks all. |
