Anybody use monograde oil anymore

I was at friends house who has a killer 72 boss Mustang with 351....He was changing the oil and was using 30w Kendall oil....I told him use that in lawn mower 40 years ago. He claims the 30w dinolube runs best in old engines ...which maybe true.

I still use it in my lawnmower. Haven't seen it in a vehicle in 35 years.

I understand he is right, for older engines it is better. If i am not mistaken, that's a 351 Cleveland in that Stang.

Had a 1200 Sporty. Took it to a shop that used some type of Kendall high performance auto oil in their bikes. I asked them why???? They said if it's good enough to run in our $50,000 drag Harleys, it's good enough for your evo.

Fast forward to 2017. I use fully synthetic fluids in both my Ultra and my Heritage.

When I bought my FXDX in 2000 I used 20W50. I had a high performance Secreamin' Eagle motor from day one in it so I ran what the warranty covered. When HD came out with synthetic I started running it. I changed the oil every 1,000 miles or once a year. Whichever came first. There were years I changed it 4-5 times. I also use synthetic now in my Electra Glide.

It depends on the climate that the engine is used in. Multigrade oils are designed to use in both very cold and hot climates. The 30w would be good if only using the car in summer .

I used to change the oil and filter every 1000 miles on my Evos. When I went to fully synthetic in my twin cams the shop said, " see you in 6000 miles." With all I have going on, I'm luck to pit 1000 miles a year on each bike. I'll probably still have them serviced every other year or so.

Your friend is 100% right. My grandfather used it on his Mach1 and it ran beautifully.

That was 71. First year Super Glide and only year for the boat tail on it. Some called it a Night Train.

I rode my Dyna hard so that's another reason I changed it every 1000 even with synthetic

With the amount of riding I do now I'm lucky to put 1000 miles on in 10
Years. I had to force myself to go with my hot rod. Hopefully that'll change this year now I have bags, a tour pack so I have a place to put stuff.
