y new Concord Impressario with Zenith El Primero Movement!

OK guys,

I did a little wheelin and dealin (and a small amount of beggin!) with a good friend of mine and voila... I am now the proud owner of a Concord Impressario with Zenith El Primero Movement!

This is such a beautiful watch, black dial with engraved face, white details and silver highlights. A round ridged case and the best part of all... the see through crystal saphire back so you can admire and drool over the stunning El Primero movement which has been beautifully enhanced with Geneva waves and of course used in the Daytona for many years! The world's only chrono movement that beats at 36,000 BPH, 31 jewels and 50 hour power reserve.

I think this is one of the best values around and will wear it happily for a long time... have a look at these pics, these were sent to me by my buddy. Let me know what you all think!

Thanx guys! I was really taken with this beauty as a wise person on this very forum once told me... "buy the watch that smiles at you"

The El Primero movement is such an amazing work of watch craftsmanship (how long have I been staring at that thing? The watch hit me in the face last night as I passed out whilst admiring it in bed )and since I can't afford an older Daytona this beauty will do just fine.

I'll post some more pics soon. Also if anyone has any idea where I could get a manual or could direct me to a site on how to operate this baby I would much appreciate it.

Gotta go stare some more (my girlfriend is getting jealous!)

Congrats, Ren! Love the El Primero movement! This is the biggest reason I wanted an older Daytona model, rather than a newer one with the "in-house" movement. Great job!

I have that watch with the silver dial and bracelet. I got it when they first introduced it. The silver dial was a mistake, as the silver hands are almost invisible against it. You'll be much happier with your black dial. Also, I think the watch looks much nicer on the strap. It sets off the beautiful coin-edge case, whereas with the bracelet, much of the beauty is lost. I think the El Primero is one of the prettiest movements around, especially for the price.

Congratulations, and best of luck with it. It's a great watch. :-)

I'll check the manual when I get home, to see what information it has. I'll see if I can scan the important parts.

Well, I looked at the manual that came with mine -- a small generic blue booklet that refers to all Concord watch models -- automatic and quartz. The booklet shows a couple of watches, including a Saratoga, but nothing as complicated as the Impresario Chronograph. It only describes setting the time and date -- but not the month and day-of-week. Pretty useless. :-(

Anyway, I'm sure you know that the date is set with the winding stem, as on any other watch. The month is set with the pusher on the left side of the watch. The day-of-the-week is set by winding the hands around and around. It's a good watch to keep on a winder. ;-) When I wear it (rarely), I just set the date, and don't bother with the rest of the calendar.

Sorry I don't have more useful information.

Peter,

Glad to hear there is another Impressario owner here! I agree 100% regarding the colour, although the silver face initially caught my eye, the black brings out the silver hands and markers just perfectly. Regardeless of colour though you still have that marvelous El Primero!

I really do prefer the black croc strap as well as a black carbon strap I have with silver stiching that matches its face perfectly as well. The coin edge does stand out much better with out the metal bracelet to distract the eye... I actually do not yet have the metal bracelet but I can get one through my buddy (no rush!)

Thanx for the info regarding the manual, it sounds like I'm not really missing too much with those sparse instructions. I'll try to get a few more pics posted soon, could you also post a couple of your silver face just for comparison?
Have you had any trouble with the watch at all? A TZer replied to a thread of mine with some negative comments about the durability of it, but I think he's being a bit of a naysayer...

I haven't had any trouble with it at all. I've had it about seven years, I think. However, I haven't worn it much -- mostly because of the invisible hands.

I'll try to remember to post some photos when I get home. My favorite view is the movement, through the back. I wish I could wear it inside-out. ;-)
