Gaining more each day
MY Sd just back from service is now 8 seconds fast since day one. First 24 hr period was right on second say 2 seconds fast, and accumulating abouyt 2 seconds each day . At this rate it will be a minute out at the end of a month. Should I be finicky and send it back in for regulation or just suck it up

IMO your SD is being consident, by continuing to gain 2 seconds a day.
Also maybe it will take a few days to regulate itself after just being serviced. If you are still unhappy with your SD's performance, then take it back to be regulated. But would that mean having to send it back to a RSC? If it was me, I would be more then happy to let it stand as it is, that is as near perfect as yu can get. Not bad when you think that there is 86,400 seconds in a day.

A gain of 2 seconds each day is pretty normal..

No! It's running great. a couple of my watches will need to be regulated. My wife's new DJ was sent in this past weekend because it was running 10 sec fast per day.

Isnt there a way to regulate the watch yourself by placing the watch in a certain position while off of the wrist??? (ex. crown up, down, etc)Im no expert, and hopefully the guys will follow up on this...but i thought i remembered reading it in one of the rolex booklets that came with the watches...and on the forum.

It is better the watch to be faster. You can adjust it more easily. Mine is 1 sec faster, it is in limits and suits me fine.

You could win 'thread of the week' with that one.
It will gain about the same each day at it's current adjustment and I would not touch a +2 second a day Rolex.

But looking at the other sign of the coin today any modern day wristwatch chronometers any brand, by the almost 300 year old 18Th century navigational standards imposed on John Harrison H4 watch, are quite laughably inaccurate even by todays standards. How about just 5 seconds slow after 63 days at sea,not bad for a almost 300 year old watch. When you think he had very primitive tools by todays standards all hand made no computer aided help now thats a real watchmaker. So just enjoy your very accurate watch for the next 40 odd years whats in 2 seconds a day hardly life threatening is it.

The current COSC standard is -4 to +6 seconds per day. Your watch is well within spec. Try this for even closer regulation.

Set it a minute slow. That way every day for a month it is getting MORE and MORE accurate.
After a month, rinse and repeat. |

My just-traded SD ran a consistent +4 seconds a day and its replacement - an Explorer I seems to run about the same, consider yourself lucky if its only gaining 2.

That's way too fast, Parachrom. Take it back to RSC and have it re-regulated.

I consider that your watch is extremely accurate. I would count myself lucky to have a watch of such accuracy.
