I love this one too. It feels bigger on the wrist to a 5980.

I know 5980 has a mahussive fan club, but I prefer this one. Its so clever, for its safety features too - within the complication manipulation, I was impressed

Texex91, I have been lusting after this watch as well. I couldn't help notice the past tense in your response. Can you give some insight into how it wore and why did you sell?

Don't own it, but love it too. Great design with 2 useful complications.

5990

Have had one for a few months. Pros-very stealth, logo hidden unless you run the chronograph permanently, gives a functioning second hand that way
Travel time easy to change and can be run as a GMT hand

Quirks -scratch magnet is inevitable, pushers need to be fully or repeat depressed to zero hands properly.
Travel time function can be pressed by accident

Bracelet is comfy but only dealer adjustment and may need a half link to be perfect.

It is however a very good 'only' watch. Good luck in your search!

I own one.. I like it but not getting much wrist time and have toyed with the idea of selling. i tend to wear my 5164 when traveling overseas and not the 5990...

It wears very nice and certainly one you can dress up or down. If they come out with a blue dial, I'd buy it again in heart beat.

No reason for selling other than my attention span is very short and prefer larger sports watches now.

I find myself liking the 5164 better if I wanted a travel time, and the 5980 blue dial better for a chronograph. A blue 5990 might change my opinion

I've owned one for almost a year among a few other Nautilus models that have come and gone - love the size and heft to this model. Initially found (esp in pics) the dial a bit cluttered but in person it is just amazing.

Probably...you can check out case size height of both on their respective websites.

Then again things are all in perspective

I think so, both are around 12-13mm.

Not sure of wrist size, but it is lighter than my GMT BLNR. The Rolex easylink system allows easy small adjustments-Nautilus strap now really dealer only.

Agree with rjd1, not easiest to read at a glance

I have had the 5990 for a few months now and it is my absolute favourite watch without a spec of doubt. It is complicated enough to satisfy my watch love but also casual and sporty enough to wear anywhere I want without worrying about things like water ingress. The dual time is useful for travelling too. Its just the best sports watch ever made IMO.

Had it and loved it when I didn't have as many watches, but as the collection grew, it didn't get worn much

Never owned but tried on several times at my AD. Was surprised how much bigger it wore than my 5711 and slightly bigger than my 5726.

I agree about the size. I have tried it on at 2-3 ADs and it is a fairly hefty watch. Some people will like it especially due to its size.

I'm waiting for the 5990/1r to come out. It'll replace my 5980/1r.
