Rolex Service Center Chicago

Hi Guys

I have read many threads that people mentioning the Rolex service center in New York and Dallas.
I googled and found one here in Chicago. After doing more digging, seems like it is more an independent shop that's authorized by Rolex to service watches.
My questions are. Are the RSC in NYC and Dallas owned and run by ROLEX?
Are there other RSC run by Rolex, other than the one in NYC and Dallas?

Chicago does not have a RSC nor any of the Midwest states.
However, Chicago does have many Rolex authorized service centers with Rolex certified watch techs.

That's what I thought. The shop that I was referring to is in downtown on Michigan ave. The name is "Rolex Service Center", which is a little misleading..... I assume those authorized independent shops can do majority, but not all the repairs that RSC can? Another question is, how come people always suggest sending the watch directly to NYC or Dallas instead of those authorized shops? If they are capable of doing most of the repair, wouldn't it be easier to just take it somewhere local? also save the shipping cost.

Its all personal preference in my opinion.
People feel RSC are more trust worthy for the sake of Rolex ownership perhaps?
I too feel the same sentiment with many WIS on TRF, send it over to Dallas RSC via certified mail and leave your worries to the professionals.

Or you can save the shipping cost and drop off your watch to an authorized service center.
But keep in mind there are few nightmare stories about certain authorized service center(tourneau)....

Good luck with making your decision.

Well the first question would be is the watch under warranty or not.

Then depending on what it needs, you can choose the shop that is best for you and the watch.

I think you are referring to Sutter's Watch Repair - 30 N Michigan. I debated whether to take my 16600 there last winter, but opted to go via what I thought was a sure bet with RSC NY. Watch came back looking/performing like BNIB, despite the countless threads chastising RSC NY. Chalked it up to good old-fashioned luck.

Sutter is NOT owned by Rolex, but rather an independent with a Rolex account - at least that's what I was told last year. They also do not take credit cards, which could be a breaker for some.

Yes, it is. But on Google, they are shown with the name "Rolex Service Center".

All my 3 Rolex watch are in good condition (two being brand new). I was just curious if there is one locally if something happens. Instead of shipping to NY or Dallas. If the watch is under warranty, does any AD take care of everything and you just hand them the watch?

Ha! Yeah, it took me a while to understand the RSC v Independents thing. Thanks, TRF!

Probably best to give your AD a call to confirm. If you don't mind, which AD do you frequent?

My first Rolex was bought in Taiwan. 2nd was from Persin & Robins. The 3rd one, I bought from an out of state AD. But I do like to go to C.D Peacock to check out watches whenever I am in Old Orchard. I have also been to James & Sons in new city. Also went to a small dealer in Palatine once.

Cool. Check out Howard Frum in downtown Chi. Decent selections, but a hard place to find.

This is because they are a Rolex Service Center. They have been observed, trained, equipped, and authorized to handle almost all aspects of servicing a Rolex, and provide the Rolex Service Warranty.

There are several of these Contracted Rolex Service Centers across the USA

ok. thank you for the info. I have read some horror stories about people taking them to the independent shops and get their watches messed up. Just want to make sure these contracted authorized service center will take full responsibility and is capable of bring the watch to good condition if they messed up.

I never had to have my timepiece serviced, but when I do, I would mail it to a RSC.
