Exploring (II) in Mongolia
I just returned from a short trip to Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. My project in South Korea will be ending soon, so this was my last chance to easily visit. The people are warm and friendly and, at least in the city, English is widely spoken. The city is an eclectic mix of everything from nomadic tents to Soviet era block buildings to modern architecture. Outside the city this is truly the land of the big blue sky.
Of course I had to stop into the local AD just to see what kind of stock they had. The store is small, but on display was at least one of almost every current Rolex and Tudor models. Their display also included some newer models, a SD43 and a black dial Daytona C (for those that do not mind going a bit out of your way to avoid a waiting list), but no SS SkyDs. Prices seemed a bit high, US$12,400 for the SD43. No discounts for CC transactions, but there was possibly some discount for cash sales. Interesting, as has been mentioned by other TRF members at some ADs, they would only sell me the Daytona C if I also purchased a PM model. Below are a couple of obligatory wrist shots along with some of the scenery. |

What a nice trip! I really love your pictures especially the last one.
Did you see any popular Sub and GMT models displayed there? |

They had a DeepBlue, SD43 and black face Subs. Did not see any other colors, TT or PM models. GMTs were common SS models.

Great photos. I used to hate the Black Explorer II but it's slowly growing on me.
Have fun. |
