Icon5 How to remove/insert bracelet pins without case scratches?

Yesterday was the first time I removed my bracelet for an ultra sonic cleaning. The removal of the pins went fine. But inserting them back into the pin holes scratched the case just around the lugs. Is there a technique to insert the pins without any scratches to the case? My guess the factory has a special tool for this. I use a Bergeon 6767-F Watch Spring Bar Tool.

I use the corner of a credit card to get them back in, rather than the 6767f (which is what I use to get them out).

Put a little tape on the lug.

seriously, if you are going to take bracelets off and on you are going to get scratches. Use a fiber scratch pencil to touch up the grain if necessary.

Thanks for all the info. Silly me it never occurred to me to use tape. I will apply some duct tape next time. I think that should do it. If I keep having issues I will get the Bergeon 7825. I figured there was a special tool for it.

I don't recommend any one in particular. Most similar to this would work.

Ordered! I'll give it a shot and see how it goes. Hope it will erase those scratches. Would this work on all the brushed parts of the bracelet?

I also went ahead and ordered a cape cod polishing kit for the polished parts.

It won't make a huge difference. Like Larry says, you're going to get scratches whatever you use, even with the fancy expensive tools if you're not used to using them.

Tape helps to protect against scratches on flat surfaces. Lug edges are extremely sensitive regarding springbar ejection - even tiny mistake when inserting / removing the springbar, no matter which tool you use and there will be small mark on the edge(s).

Has happened to me and it is irritating - even the mark is very tiny and can be removed easily when servicing the watch.

Couple of things to consider:

-Avoid taking the springbars out from the front side of the watch (yep I have done this wrong way once... will never do it again...)
-Tweeter hand should be steady while pressing the springbar and the hand holding the watch head should be the one moving the two pieces together

I am sad I found this website when it was too late.

Hope this helps.

I see Ofrei has a September labor day sale for the Bergeon 7825 Extra Fine Forked Tweezers ($129) and Bergeon 6825 Pliers ($148) — http://www.ofrei.com/page252.html

Is it worth spending the extra $19 for the 6825?

Was actually about to order off of eBay, but saw your post. Thanks! Saved me a few bucks and probably a few weeks of waiting! Ordered the 7825 and 6767f.

By the way...go with the 7825. It's easier to use than the plier type tools.

Thanks for the heads up. I read on the site that the 7825 is for spring bar openings less than 1.4mm. Can someone confirm the 7825 will work on my 116613LB? Thanks!

I've used this tool before on a 116610, which is the same size as the two tone you're inquiring about. It'll be perfect.
