I don't think that you have a Zenith manufactured in 2002 as the Daytona was fitted with the 4130 since 2000. Perhaps, since it is gold, it is old stock that was sold in 2002 but made a few years earlier..

Daytonas are an enigma as the Stainless Steel models seem to be holding, and even gaining value, more than the gold models..

About your question, yes Daytonas with the Zenith movement are very collectible and highly sought after. If you take the current SS Daytona (ref number 116520) today and compare it to the Zenith Daytona (ref number 16520) which is out of production, the Zenith version will sell for more money generally. Many SS Zenith Daytonas I've seen have not sold for less than $15,000 USD.

post a picture the position of the sub dials will tell us if its a zenith or not, its possible the watch was sold in 2002 but made before 2000. the bi metal daytona is one of the more difficult models for rolex ADs to sell(dont know why because they are a great looking watch)

the two upper sub dials should be directly horizontal between the three and nine o'clock hour markers, if they are slightly higher then its the later rolex in house 4130 movement

regards sean

I've seen the sell in good condition in ss/gold with papers and box for about £3500-£4000 from pre-loved dealers

If you took it to a AD why did you not ask him what the watch is worth on a wholesale, trade in and private sale level?
