Vegas isn't typically the best place to buy a Rolex. You have quite a few people down there that have won big looking to blow their new found riches. You are also going to get hit with the poor exchange rate (unless it changes by November) as the pound has been losing to the dollar as of late. Also, you then have to worry about customs.
Good luck on your search. Just wanted to pass along my thoughts. Buying abroad can be difficult.

The Tourneau in the Forum at Caesars has preowned on their second floor next to the Oris case, and there is a non-AD that sells preowned, called Tower of Jewels. I can't comment on Tower of Jewels as I have never been there, but the prices of the preowned at Tourneau are ridiculous. And don't buy in the pawn shops either! Lots of fakes and the prices are just as bad if not worse than Tourneau.

I just got back from Vegas and the only place I saw a decent selection of used Rolexes was at the Tourneau Time Dome, and I agree with the above statement that their used watches are always overpriced. I think that even with the less favorable exchange rate, buying a Rolex is still cheaper in the US than the UK (unless you get hosed by customs). What model are you looking for? Maybe I can tell you where I saw them in Vegas. In this economy, maybe you can get a good enough deal to consider a new watch. This past weekend was pretty busy in Vegas but at basically every watch store I went into, I was the only customer.

The largest selections of Datejusts I saw were at the Rolex Boutique at the Wynn and Tourneau Time Dome at Caesar's, but they're probably the two least likely to discount. There are Rolex ADs in basically every nice hotel on the Vegas strip as well as the adjacent shopping malls, so you can take advantage of that and totally shop them against one another since they have a lot of the same models in stock. I don't specifically remember where I saw Explorer Is in stock, but I'm sure they're out there. Good luck.

True, Las Vegas is not the best place to buy a Rolex if you want a good price. But that said, it is a great place to look at them! Tourneau is a mecca for watch enthusiasts. If you are pretty skilled in authenticating, I have heard that the pawn shops there are teeming with them, pawned by some folks that go overboard a bit at the tables. I may be going in the spring and I am definitely going to be taking a look.

Tower of Jewels has q deep selection of pre-owned Rolex, especially at the main location off of Sahara and Las Vegas Blvd. They have also been around for a very long time here (40+ years), and a good reputation, which is enough confidence for me to buy. That said, the prices are only Fair. I saw their price book once, and they reference Furman for a lot of the used prices I think. They are NOT as expensive as Tourneau, and are probably more likely to deal however.

if you get a watch while on vacation wear it back on your wrist and simply ship the box and papers back to the UK so you dont have to worry about any customs issues

There are many good grey dealers in europe that you should consider buying from instead of Vegas. Unless you want a brand new watch that gets no discount anywhere, then you can buy there.
Assuming you want a discount of course. |

Definitely check out The Watch Shoppe in Ti---they moved from their hole in the wall store by the entrance to a much larger store by Kahunaville. They have an expanded Rolex selection now. Tourneau doesn't really have a great selection of sport models, but they are full of datejusts. I have always found more sport models at Tessorini at the bellagio. Besides, the people at Tessorini are much nicer than the snobby asses at Tourneau.
