Panerai 233, now discontinued?

I’m planning a purchase in December on a trip in the US. So I got in touch with a large and well know US AD I’ve purchased from several times and they have informed me that the 233 has been discontinued. Just an FYI.... I don’t know if s replacement is coming at SIHH or not but not it’s got me thinking.... should I wait? Decisions, decisions!

Yes, this is a big ad like a govberg. They have already stopped getting new ones in. I was looking for a 351 or 352. The 1351 replaces the 351 but I really not a ecru lume fan and I’d prefer rose gold hands to a blue one! The 352 was still and option but I was also told that was replaced by the 723. Not titanium but it’s what I was told. I’ve had a few 311’s send over time the dome gets annoying with the glare. Otherwise I was going to order a 233 but it’s a toss up between that and s 351. Older movement but the titanium gold hands combo sings to me. I’m focusing on 44mm 1950 case.

Why are there so many rumors about the 233 all the time?

What happened to the 1950 auto cases (305, 312, 351, 389, etc) has nothing to do with the 8-day manual winds.

I agree. But I trust this source. I don’t know about a 1233 as the 233 is already thinner and has a full bridge.

I would not make a decision based on rumours.

Ageeed! I’m picking up a 351 a 233 was my back up in terms of singing to me. I just put it out there as when I asked for pricing on a few models, the 233 included, he said it was discontinued. Seem ridiculous to me too on such a popular model but remember the 233 was launched with the 270 and it was replaced almost two years ago with its ecru cousin! We’ll see soon enough. I’m real curious though, everything new I consider seems to have ecru lume or ecru lume and a blue seconds hand. I understand wanting to differentiate the new movement but damn, just say it had a new movement and move on. Only the purists will be upset but on the purist would care about the “improved movement”. A casual buyer isn’t going to care about a full balance bridge. I don’t know....
