Buying AP without warranty?

What are your thoughts on buying a 15400 from a gray market without an AP warranty? Is the warranty worth it if the watch is guaranteed genuine and such?

Thanks

Chad

Not the biggest deal if it’s out of warranty if the price is right. Just factor in $850-$1k for a service when it’s time and you’ll have a like new watch with 2 years warranty after that. I would be more concerned about condition and all the boxes and papers coming with the watch

Then why wouldn't it have warranty? All the grey dealers here buy from ADs and the watches will have regular warranty.

Is the warranty transferable if the timepiece was previously registered online?

It would be from a place like jomashop, I'm assuming they aren't transferable

No reason to get from a place like jomashop when you can get better prices, full warranty and papers in your name with a trusted seller on here.

Crazy how hard they are to find now. They were so plentiful when they first came out and 5 years later there were two price increases, cutting of dealer margin and now it looks like AP is holding supply. Hope you find one. It was my first AP and still one of my all time favorite watches.

Consider the 44mm... It really is a great watch. Just added my second today. Purchased from trusted seller right here on RF. Nothing wrong with using an AD and a grey market dealer. Makes life easier for what you want most of the time.

Let the enabling begin

I would buy (and have bought) an AP that’s out of warranty. However, I do not understand why a new, authentic, non-stolen AP would not have had an AP warranty

Yes the warranty has value. I would personally subtract 2-3k from any watch with 6 months of warranty or less. I wouldn't buy one out of warranty unless the price was sensational.

The AD info was incorrect. AP doesn't care who registered the watch originally, only that when the watch is in for warranty work, it's within the time limits from when the warranty book is dated.
