Even though it's a 16700, I don't think the price is bad. I haven't seen a 167xx for 4-5k in a while now.

the condition of the lugs seemed to suggest it's not unpolished.
anyways, as long as it's not over polished it's fine.
nothing wrong with a polished watch if it's done properly.

You have a great watch there, wouldn't worry about it so much. Just enjoy it!

I´m picking it up on Monday so I will post new pictures as soon as I have gotten the opportunity to take some. Here are some pictures from the seller of the clasp and caseback. Thanks for all your knowable comments. I´ll be back!

Unless you are one of these retain every scratch people - and I don't think you are - invest a little more in this keeper and send it to the RSC for a full service.

The watch will come back looking brand new...and run like a top.

My gut tells me you will fall in love - again.

Losing the dirt / grime and corrosion will be a good move IMO.

Overpaid and the bracelet looks to have quite a bit of corrosion between the links a RSC is likely going to ask you to replace it. I would send this to a good independent watch repair as RSC is going to want to replace a lot on that watch.

I can't tell anything from those pictures - besides that it's a remarkably dirty watch. Disinfect that thing before you wear it.

X2 I am not going to strap that on my wrist . But after a service it's OK, good case.

Well one Thing I've learned about Rolex, if you over paid, wait a couple of years then look back at the amazing deal you got when you bought it.

Also, I would personally send it in for a service of the movement and cleaning (not polishing). Inbetween the links and the space between the case/crystal and the bezel is looking dirty.

I am not sure why you beieve 16710 fetch a higher value than 16700 which is the last of the true GMT Master and it have a quickeset date!

I always seem to meet people I´m bidding against at this, or at rolexforum. Probably I have a very good taste? Or could it be that the Sek is very low compared with the USD & Euro and others...?

It cleaned up quite nicely. There´s still dirt around the glas. The bezel got stuck since it´s so much dirt underneath it. Manage to get it loose but I need to change it anyway since it scratched and also with some strange dirt in the numbers that I can't remove easily. The dirt around the crown, which looked like corrosion, cleaned up very nicely with some dental floss!

Over all I´m very happy with it. Planned to wear it as a daily beater instead of my 1675 but now I´m hesitating. Probably need to buy something else that I don't need to be afraid of wearing every day. Shit - this will NEVER stop!!!!

I will post some more pictures when it´s fully cleaned and serviced.
/Peter

As I suspected, that is one sharp case. I didn't think you overpaid @ all. Have it serviced and enjoy the hell out of it.

Good looking watch IMO. Certainly has not been touched much. Lots of gunk on the head and bracelet. Crown guards look nice and thick, lugs look good too. Disassemble the bezel, insert, and bracelet and give it a good cleaning. That will add $$ in 10 minutes time.

Some people prefer older models to modern examples. Not exactly what he was asking.

OP, I think you paid a fair market price considering you have B+P. I certainly would not lose any sleep over the price you paid.

I hate to spoil the party but the pillow and wrap in this set look to be fake. That would bug me at this price point.

@NKflyer Thank you for tor reply. But tell me, What's the "give away" for pillow and wrap being fake? I have seen several sets with this very flat and "boxy" pillow. It's not at all the same as the one one my 16600. But anyway I'm curious to learn.

Best regards
Peter

The 16700 is a transiton model and prices at seem to be a bit above the 16710 at times. For a long time this quick set model has been skipped over for the adjustable hour hand 16710 but collectors are staring to eat them up. As the 16700 is the sucessor of the 1675 and 16750 GMT Master one's, it model reminds me of the 16800 which suceeded the much loved plastic 1680 Sub. Just a few years ago no one really wanted a 16800 and i had seen many sell for the mid high 3's. Now look at prices. Look at prices now for a full set 16700. You did good even when you got it back of June this year. As collectors go or at least for me, a FULL SET is the cream of the crop on vintage models and worth the extra price.

Rolex GMT 16700 - Hit or Miss?

You may have overpaid slightly, but if you’re happy with it then it’s all good. And the way prices for the older GMTs have been appreciating you should be in the black (no pun intended) in a year.

Keep in mind that a full service will cost you $700 US at an RSC, plus parts Rolex will undoubtedly want to replace. I just had my GMT2 serviced and the total was $1500. I posted the invoice in another discussion. As I plan to enjoy this watch for the rest of my life it was totally worth it. Search for “ballpark estimate” and you should find that discussion.

I don't think there is a crown gasket visible on this model... I have an extra black insert.

I think you did well.
A full set GMT with the correct jubilee, plenty of character while still being in good condition... checks a lot of boxes in my book.

Congrats. Wear and enjoy!
