I, for one, has only been forum member for about 6 months, with 800+ response count, no history of selling/buying on the forum. It will be harder to gain trust from buyers. Also, the risk of selling to complete strangers, even with wire transfer, there is still risk. If I get a Daytona one day and don't like it, maybe we can make a deal :) Last edited by yxc145; 1 December 2017 at 03:28 AM.. Reason: sorry, I only meant to respond to MonBK |

Why not sell to the community over the big resellers??
I sold this brand new in box white 116500 to a good friend for exactly $13578 to cover taxes, $0 "profit".
But I've also listed three more on this forum for $16500 - $19000, and they sold within days of posting. It's not that I dont want to be altruistic, but unless I know the buyer personally, I'm hesitant to list for $14000 just so when they grow tired of the watch, it could be flipped for profit (no offense to OP, just hypothetical). And yes, my friend still has the $13578 Daytona I sold him, it's his keeper for life. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

However, your (and the OP's) theory doesn't take into account the scammers and thieves that spend more time dreaming of ways to steal from guys like me and you that are trustworthy. They're quite good at what they do. I have no problem with your scenario if I personally know and trust the buyer. If I don't, I'll most likely go with a reseller. And the Daytona is probably not a good example, either. The margins on a super hot watch like the Daytona or LV-C look a lot different than on a "normal" watch. ![]() |
